Antigua bound!!!

Well our vacation is here! We booked this back in February so it is safe to say we are all beyond ready to go! This week started out going by slow and then about Tuesday night it picked up. Once I started packing it snuck up on me. I still have a list about a mile long of things I have to get done before we head out tomorrow. I did find out I only have to work a half day today so we are really glad to be able to get on the road to Dallas, especially since we have to leave at 3:00am Saturday morning to make our flight!

We are flying out of DFW to Miami then on to Antigua. We should arrive and be on the beach by 2:00! Now we are just praying no more hurricanes develop while we are out there!! We are staying at Sandals Grand Antigua and I cannot wait to be back at a Sandals Resort. They are my absolute favorite place and I am so looking forward to a break from school! With Mitch working nights we don't really see each other that much, so this vacation will be so nice for us!

Since it is a professional day at school- we have a Jenks pep rally this morning then some meetings this afternoon. I am happy for a day without the kids. Ha! I love more than anything what I do, but it is physically and emotionally draining. I had no idea the things I would see. I def feel called to teach, but now I see why teachers are always looking forward to breaks!

Have a wonderful week and I will post when we get back about our time at the beach!!

1st week of school and picture update!

I know I promised to post about my first day of school, and honestly I had all the intentions to, but it ended up being a rough week for me. I started school last Thursday and so we only had to go Thursday and Friday with the kids and let me tell you those were the hardest two days!! Everyone warned me that the first few weeks of school are crazy and stressful and make you want to pull your hair out and let me tell you I had no idea it was going to be that hard. Kindergarten is already a hard age group because you are the first to teach them how to listen and learn. I have so many stories I could tell you.. lets just say my friday consisted of taking care of a girl with head lice, two of my girls (twins in different classes had seizures, and 3 went home sick. It was a rough day!

I am working in two classes and I love that I get to see two different teaching styles, I have already seen things I love and things I def. don't want to do from both teachers. But on the other side of things, it is so hard on me to be in charge of two classes. I have to learn two classes names, two different classrooms, rules, etc. So lets just day it was a rough week. I am loving it more and more everyday and everyone has told me to give it a month and I will be fine. I am hoping they are right. I come home everyday and am so exhausted. I had no idea how how tiring a job it was. I NEVER sit down and I am constantly helping kids, which I love, but I am ready to go to sleep when I get home.

Last week was our first full week and unfortunately I was sick all week. I started feeling bad off and on last weekend, but didn't think much of it and when I got up monday morning I felt horrible. It got worse and worse as the week went by- I had severe congestion, worst sore throat ever, pain deep in my chest and a horrible cough. I literally thought I was never going to get better. I finally started feeling better yesterday, but I still can't do much without just feeling exhausted. I don't know how I made it through work last week.. it was a miracle. I have never taken so many different kinds of medicine ha! I was home and asleep for the night by 4pm every day last week. Finally on Thursday we thought I should try and go to the doctor since I just kept getting worse. Well Mitch's new insurance doesn't kick in until September 1st, so since I have my Indian card I can go to the Indian hospital for free and get all my meds for free. Yes, I am cherokee, ha, most people do not believe me because of my fair skin and hair color, but I am  :) I may have fair skin, but I get really dark in the summers real fast! But anyways, we drove an hour to the Indian hospital and when we checked in, the lady said it was going to be a 6-10 hour wait... really?? So no, we didn't wait- I took more meds and went to sleep.

Since its been awhile since I last posted, I figured I would just post some pics from my iPhone from the past two weeks...
Bella and I have movie nights when Mitch is at work. She LOVES her popcorn!
We took Bella to a new dog park and it was so nice!!!
We've been taking advantage of this nice weather and golfing :)

We love golfing with Peter!

Dinner date at Utica with Katie and Tommy
Last week we bought all our new appliances for out house- fridge, microwave, stove and dishwasher. I will spare you pics of them all, but I am obsessed with our new fridge!

This is were Bella spends every Sunday morning :)

Since we moved here, we have been attending FBC Tulsa and love it. We are in a newly married life group and are really enjoying it!

Mitch took Bella swimming today and she did great! She also loves sun bathing :)
This week should be much easier, I am finally feeling confident with my kids and not to mention I am feeling better. I only work 4 days this week, Friday is a professional day, so the kids are off. We do have to report to school, but just for a meeting so I am hoping it won't take all day. Then Friday afternoon we are headed to Dallas and leave EARLY Saturday morning for our vacation!!! I can't wait!
I hope y'all have a wonderful week!

Back to School!

Hi y'all! It has been one crazy week! I had to report to school on Monday and it has been super busy since I started. I have stared new jobs before, nothing like in a school though. Wow.. I knew teachers did a lot, but never even imagined all they do not only in class, but behind the scenes. I have a whole new level of respect for them! Just on my elementary campus- we have buildings A-E and you have to walk outside to get to each building. It is literally like a campus, I am still trying to figure it out! In Pre-K though 2nd grade we have almost 2,000 students!!! Crazy!

I was able to go Monday and meet me teachers, I am working with mainly one, but helping out in another class sometimes too. When I was hired, I was told I would be in pre-k, but when I got there I realized it was actually kindergarten! They told me wrong on the phone. I was so excited, because even though pre-k would have been fun, in the future I either want to be a kindergarten or 1st grade teacher, so this is so much better for me! And not to mention my teachers are great. They have both been teaching for a long time and are super experienced. They are also very much like me when it comes to teaching styles. They are super structured and ocd about everything. I love it and love how they have schedules for everything. Needless to say I am so excited. I knew the moment my first day was over, I had found my calling. I was so happy and loved every minute of it. I CAN'T wait until I get to have my own class!

So Monday and Tuesday were "meet the teacher" so I was up at the school until around 8pm, but it was a blast and I love our kiddos! It will def. be challenging, but I am so thankful to be with teachers that have so much knowledge to share with me, so when I become a teacher it will be a little easier. Today was my first day where I worked my normal schedule, 8:30-3:00. It was a LONG day full of meetings after meetings, but it was so nice to be home by 3:15! Even though our last few days have been long and stressful, our PTA has been awesome! They have catered us in lunch and snacks all week and we got two Jenks West t-shirts! Fridays are "casual" days ONLY if you wear Jenks Spirit stuff. So we are only allowed to wear jeans on Fridays, if we wear a Jenks shirt. So I will most likely be accumulating lots of those! I am also getting a Jenks Harley & Maude necklace made. I'm so excited!

Tomorrow is the official first day of school and I am really excited but super nervous. I have just gotten use to the classroom and the teachers, now I have to be add in the kids ha! I am ready to get to know them all, but I know it will be stressful, at least for the first couple of weeks. I have been exhausted this week, I mean I am already in bed ha! This weekend is going to consist of lot of sleep!

I have had so much fun being off for the past month, I have loved getting to spend so much time with friends. I was able to have hang out/have dinner/lay out last week with my good friend Tayler. Mitch and I also went golfing saturday morning with Peter and Scott. It was so fun and because of the move we haven't really had time to play much this past month, but we both played surprisingly well. There are so may golf courses in Tulsa that have great cheap deals, and since I get home by 3, we are going to be playing a lot in these next few months!

Well, I will try and do a post about my first day soon, but I can't promise anything. Please say a little prayer for me, I am super nervous for tomorrow! I hope everything goes smooth! Hope y'all have a good Thursday!!

Quick update

Well once again, I am a slacker. I would like to say that I will try and get better, but with school starting next week, I am afraid to say it might get worse. I can't explain to you how excited I am for school! I have never been so ready for something to start, and I think it is because I am finally going to be pursuing something that I love. I was talking with my principal this morning and she said get ready for the most stressful week of your life (I don't think she has any idea what our past two months have been like ha). But I am sure she is right. She was telling me to tell my husband to plan a nice relaxing weekend for me. She said I will need it after the week I am going to have next week. She said most of the teachers get a massage and literally lay in bed and sleep all weekend. I'll be sure to remind Mitch about this :)

Monday and Tuesday, I will be there until about 8pm each night because it is "Meet the Teacher". Even though it will be late nights, I am so excited to be a part of all this. I am hoping to learn a lot. I was trying to think of ways to keep track of everything I learn, so that when it becomes my turn I am not completely lost, but haven't thought of anything yet. So if y'all have any ideas, please pass them along!

Other than school starting next week, we don't really have much going on. Mitch has started nights and let me tell you, it is going to be interesting! Ha! I know we will get through it and actually doesn't seem to be bothering Mitch much, but I was amazed to find out how much it affects me. We have to live a completely different lifestyle than we are use to. I have to plan everything about him sleeping/working. I think Mitch was right when he said it will prob be more stressful on me.

Last weekend I was able to go to KC for a girls reunion with some of my college friends and it was just lovely! I really enjoyed getting to catch up with everyone and it was just nice to have some girl time! My two other friends from Tulsa and I left early Friday morning, got to KC by 1:30, had lunch, shopped and then met up with the other girls that evening. We went out on the lake, ate at one of my favorite bbq places, shopped at the plaza and just enjoyed each others company! I am already looking forward to our next one!

I'll try and post again before school starts, but thats not a promise! Have a great week. I am trying to enjoy my last few days off!
