Engagement

Mitch proposed on August 9th, 2009 and it may have been the hottest day of the year. (It must have been forshadowing our wedding day- because it was the hottest day that year)! A little pre-info, Mitch had been trying to plan the engagment and things never were working out for him.. poor guy! He told me all the "other" plans he had but they never seemed to work out. He had the ring before we finished up our junior year and his first plan was to propose in Chicago (were were going there on vacation the last week of june). Well knew that I really wanted my family to be there and they were not going to be able to come, so that wasn't going to work out. His second plan was to take me to KC, and well as you can propbably tell, Mitch isn't the best with dates and planning, because the weekend he had this planned turned out to be one of our good friends weddings. So that was a no go too. He finally said he had to just pick a weekend we both had nothing going on, which was August 9 and do it! We had both been ready for this to happen for over a year, so honestly I was just ready to plan a wedding!

He proposed on a Sunday afternoon and on Thursday he came up to meet woth my mom and figure out details for his "plan". I knew he was coming up for the weekend, but I didn't think he was coming until Friday. So he stayed with a friend that night and then came to my house Friday afternoon. The whole weekend was perfect and it was all planned around my favorite things. Honestly, if he would done some huge thing I would have know from the beginnnig what was happeneing and he knew that too. So he kept it very cool and thats what I loved most about it!

Friday, we spent all day at the pool. He knows me too well. I could literally do this all day everyday! That night he took me to dinner at The Bistro and the to see the broadway play Wicked! Saturday- we spent all day playing golf and then out to eat at my favroite mexican retaurant. Sunday, he took me to church (my parents both said they didn't feel well so they were going to stay home). I should have known something was up. But anyways, after church we went to eat at Olive Garden and then on the way home he said he wanted to take me somewhere and show me something.

He pulled up at Woodward Park and I was really confused. He said he wanted to take a walk around the park. Now remember it was HOT and we came from church so I was in heels. I was honestly not up for this, but I went with it. I had no idea what was happening and honestly I thought for some reason maybe he was wanting to show mw this place for a wedding venue? I was clueless. We walked all through the park and we ended up at the Tulsa Rose Garden. There was an area with a fountain that was off by itself and when we started walking towards it I noticed a big vase of red roses were delivered and they were sitting my the fountain. (Mitch knows red roses are my favorite and every time he gets me flowers- it was always red roses). I was starting to get really confused. So we walked over to them I picked them up, read the sweetest card, and when I looked up from reading it he was on one knee. I was so surprised. I never thought I would be surprised on my engagament- I always thought I would know exactly when it was coming. But he did a great job. After I said yes,I hear lots of cheering in the background and I turn and both of our families were there watching and videoing the whole thing.

After we took what felt like a 1,000 pictures out in the heat, we went back to my parents house and my mom had a engagement party planned. My family and friends were there and it was so much fun!! The whole weekend was absoluelty perfect and meant just for me. I loved it!

I thought Mitch was going to have to leave Monday after the proposal and go back to Arkansas, but he suprised me and stayed that whole week after and we started the process of finding a venue. It was so fun. A week after it all happened, I went back to AR for a few days and he told me he had another surprise for me. He took me to get my ring resized and then drove to this random house. I was so confused and he took me in and showed me all around and told me if I liked it, this was our house! I was so excited and we started fixing it up right away!
