Our week...

Happy Saturday! If you are reading this from OK or AR you are most likely snowed in. I will be honest, I am glad it is you and not me. I have had my share of snow and I'm done with it. It is pretty cold here, but nothing like it has been and we are actually suppose to get up in the 50's and 60' this weekend and the beginning of next week, but just right before we drop back down to highs in the 20's. I am trying not to think about that, but how we are going to enjoy the nice weather while we have it, even if it is just a few days.

This week has been pretty low key for us. Mitch had his first pharmacology test Thursday and did really well on it! He also has two more test coming up this Monday and Tuesday. So you can guess what he did all week, and what he will continue to do this weekend. I think I have finally gotten use to the amount of studying this program requires and I am learning of ways to keep myself busy. It really helps having Bella and that I feel like this is home now. Like this is my town. I been out doing stuff and enjoying it a lot more.

This week I have been to Target about 20 times ha. Yes I love Target and will sometimes just go to walk round and get out, but I have been trying to get a few little things here and there for our home. So thats kept me pretty busy. I also have been watching a lot of Parenthood- probably too much, but its just such a good show. With the weather not being freezing and not having snow/ice all over the ground, I have been able to continue my half training. The first 2 weeks went so well and then the winter weather came and it put us on a hold. So I feel a little behind but I am back at it and feel so much better about it all. We have been trying to decide whether we want to do the OKC half or the Nashville half and up until about a week and a half ago we were going to go home and do the OKC. Mitch wanted to do this because he thought it would be a perfect time to go home since its over his birthday, but then he realized he has a test and two group projects due that next week. So I told him the decision was up to him and he chose to do the Nashville. He said it takes a lot of stress off him because instead of driving over 8 hours, running the race on a Sunday and then driving 8 hours back when he has tests and projects he needs to be working on, we will only be 2 hours away in Nashville Friday night, race Saturday morning and then be home. Also, this way we can celebrate his birthday in Nashville and then I have some fun stuff planned for his actual birthday on Monday too! It works out a lot better for him and honestly the Nashville half is my dream half to run, so I am super excited!! Lets just hope the weather continues to get warmer and training goes well.

No turning back now, we're officially registered!

Also since Mitch has been studying, I have found a new book to read. I am not the biggest reader ever, but I do like to read. I am not that girl that is always reading a new book but do enjoy reading and try to read several books a year. I LOVE to read on vacation but at home I have a hard time finding time. So I am working on that because I think it is important. So last year I wanted a book to read while we were in Mexico and chose Divergent. I love books that turn into movies. Read it, loved it and wanted to go get the next one. So when I was sick when we got back from Mexico, Mitch bought  me the next two books in the series (I love books in a series). Well the next day I was put in the hospital, then we moved to TN a few days after i got out and just never had the time to start the next one with all the stress of moving and trying to get settled.

So now I am starting it and can't wait- I am sure I will have a hard time finding time to read it, but in a few weeks we are going to Florida, so if I'm not done I know I'll read it there! And if I do happen to finish before we go, there is a third book!! So I will already have my vacation books ready to go. Can you tell I'm excited??!

I mentioned last post we are eating clean Monday through Friday and we had some really good meals agin this week...

The first was orange chicken and to be honest I was super worried about this meal, but it was probably one of my favorites! It turned out way better than we both thought!

The second favorite of the week was grilled salmon with avocado sauce. I mentioned I love salmon, and there are so many ways to make it, but my favorite is grilled. The avocado sauce is basically an easy guacamole- avocados, lime juice and onions- nothing fancy. I didn't know how well it would go on the salmon, but was up for trying something new. And let tell you it was delicious!! Sounds kinds weird I know, but oh so good!
All these recipes are on my Pinterest page under my board "healthy dinners" if you want to look them up. I highly recommend trying some of them!

Hope y'all enjoy the weekend and try and stay warm if you are in all the snow!

Ice storm, DIY projects, healthy recipes and JOY!

Yes the title of this post in long but I have a lot to catch you up on. But first, sorry I have been MIA, if it's not one thing around here, its another. This is the THIRD time, third time y'all that our internet went down. We can't figure out what is going on, but since we have been back from Christmas break we have have multiple AT&T guys out to try and figure out what's going on. So long story short, we have not had internet. Of course I love my internet, but this definitely affects Mitch more than me. He has been having to go up to the school to do anything and it was really getting old. So after 3 hours yesterday afternoon, we finally have internet again. Let's see how long it lasts this time.  So here is whats been going on this past week...

So remember in my last post where I mentioned we were suppose to get 5 inches of snow? Well as we thought, that did not happen, but we did get winter weather and lots of it. Sunday evening it started and was suppose to ice for a little bit and then change over to snow and snow all day Monday. Well it just never changed to snow... it iced ALL Sunday night and ALL day Monday!! We had about 2 inches of solid ice when it was over Tuesday!

Since it has been super cold and stayed super cold, the ice didn't go anywhere. It finally started to melt on the streets Wednesday afternoon. I was suppose to sub several days this week and ended up not because schools were closed all week. Y'all, what it takes to close a school here is unreal. I mean Thursday the sun was out and roads were dry, not slushy, not wet... 100 percent dry!! So what did they decide to do- cancel school for the rest of the week. Mitch and I laughed and laughed every time we saw another closing. He only had to go one day last week and I didn't go any. We had heard from several people that Jackson is just not prepared at all for winter weather, so if they see a snowflake, or even hear that it is suppose to snow, they cancel everything and the town shuts down. We didn't believe how true this was until last week. They don't have snow plows or any way of treating streets, so they panic if a dusting of snow is forecasted. You think I am exaggerating on this... no, not at all. It is unlike anything I have ever seen. I mean I feel like I have grown up and lived in the south, but even in OK/AR it takes quite a bit of snow to cancel school or much less shut the WHOLE town down. But I guess we live in the true south now and in TN things are different! Wednesday and Thursday it started to clear up, but just in time for another round. This time we actually got snow and not ice, so it made for a fun weekend! But now I am over it and more than ready for spring!! This crazy cold is for the birds and I need some warm weather!

My Hunter boots came in handy last week, but lets be honest, I wear them everyday, not just in the snow and rain. Love these boots so much!

We did venture out in the morning Saturday just as it was starting to snow and went to breakfast. We went to the Old Country Store. You have heard me talk about it before, its the worst meal for you, but oh so good. We ALWAYS take people that come into town there, especially if they like good southern food. But we have never been their for breakfast and heard good things about it and yep, we heard right it was delicious!

That was our big outing for the week! We have been stuck inside all last week and weekend. And since we haven't been able to get out we resorted to starting and finishing up some projects around the house. So first, I am not crafty at all. I long to be and so wish I was, but I just don't have that gift, but that doesn't mean I still don't try. So I have always loved DIY projects, but since most of them are pretty big and involve wood and saws and stuff I don't trust myself with, I decided to give Mitch this job! No, but totally kidding, he has been saying he wants to learn to build and make stuff on his own, so why not give him some projects from my list. First up a corn hole set. I know sounds kind of weird, but I love corn hole and when we got to the beach everyone always brings theirs and I have always wanted one. Also they are so fun to have in your backyard! So for several years now I have been begging Mitch to get me one, but they are so expensive so we thought, lets try and make one. It is a simple first project and good thing is, Mitch LOVES doing stuff like this and it is a great stress reliever and kind of gives him a hobby while in school. And I get awesome new stuff from it! A win win! He always talks about how all his hobbies are gone now that he is in school. He can't play golf, tennis, and the list goes on. So he has declared this his new hobby. He is in the beginning stages of it and when he gets it done I will be paining and "decorating" it. We are going to make one OSU and the other Arkansas, since that will represent us.
Now since he is doing that, I finished up a project I have bene working on. Mine doesn't involve all the "guy stuff" as I call it. No sawing, lumber or anything like that. I have been dying to make a coffee bar for the house. As most of you know, I love coffee... definitely addicted. I have always wanted a designated coffee bar and so with being stuck in the house I finished it up. I did get out yesterday and pick up a last few things I needed from Hobby Lobby, but the cool thing is, most of this stuff I had laying around the house or in closets because this house small, half of our stuff wouldn't fit. So I did some digging around and it came out just perfect. I know I am biased because I did it, but it is exactly what I was picturing and love love love it.

So when Mitch gets the corn hole set done I will post pictures and then put him to work on the next project- a table for our back patio! It's crazy how inexpensive it is to make this stuff and not just buy it.

On a different subject, we have bene trying to eat really healthy since we have been back from Christmas. And to our surprise its going really well. I think we had so much junk over the holidays, our bodies were craving healthy (and not to mention we are going to florida in a few weeks). So we are clean eating thoughout the week and then Saturdays and Sundays we can enjoy what we want. Its been going great and we both feel so much better. We haven't skipped a healthy meal and this is going on week 4! We cook a clean meal everyday for lunch and dinner and we are discovering some awesome clean eating recipes! I thought I would share a few of my favorites. The other day Mitch grilled out a ton of chicken, shrimp and veggies and we made quinoa (I'm obsessed with it now and eat it everyday). We ate on this for days!

Also, I made lettuce wraps and they turned out so good. You know you always have those few foods that just scare you to make? Well lettuce wraps are mine. For some reason I have always been terrified to make lettuce wraps. They have always seemed difficult to me and so I have never made them. Well last week I conquered my fear and made them. And they were actually super easy, so delicious and healthy for you! I will be making these again!

Those are just two, but we have hit it out of the park with good recipes (thanks to Pinterest) and I think thats helping us not eat out. Tonight we are having salmon and brussel sprouts. We have this every week and I can't get enough of salmon. I could eat fish every night of the week and I am so thankful Mitch likes it too, because we make salmon or tilapia all the time! I have always liked brussel sprouts, but have come to love them and make them at least 3 times a week! I will hopefully be sharing some more of our dinners!

All this talk about food it making me hungry, so to change the subject I will tell you about my new shirt (sounds weird I know, but let me explain). As most of you know I love The Bobby Bones Show. For those of you who don't know what it is, it is a morning radio show. I have never been into morning radio shows. Actually I have always been that girl who hates them and just wants music in the morning. Well about 3 or so years ago I was introduced to the BBS and it caught my attention. I listened on and off, but when the show moved to Nashville and became a country station- it was on my radio every morning when we lived in Tulsa. So I listened every morning getting ready and on my way to work. I became hooked and now I listen on IHeart Radio and I do not miss a show. I am obsessed and can't get enough of them. Mitch makes fun of me because I talk about them like they are my friends and my goal is to meet them, so every time we are in Nashville I am on the hunt! It would make my world if I could meet them... one day right?? But anyway long story short they have created this saying called Pimpin' joy. Basically it means show someone joy or do something randomly nice and unexpected to make someone's day- pimp some joy. So this has become a thing, a BIG thing and I could talk all day about the things they have done, what they have raised money for, from St. Judes to an orphanage they work with in Haiti. But they do little things to raise money and have raised millions and every penny goes to what they are raising money for. So since it has become so big they decided to sell shirts that say pimpin' joy (which fun fact- one of our good friends, JD who we went to college with designed them).

Of course I was online the minute they went on sale and got one! Anyways they remind you to do something nice for someone and lots of people ask about it so its a great way to tell others to spread joy too! All the money from this round of t-shirts went to raise money for the orphanage in Haiti! And next week on the show is JOY WEEK and it is going to be awesome! So if you don't listen to The Bobby Bones Show and you think morning radio shows are boring (like I did), give this one a try. It will change you and I guarantee you wont be able to miss a show either!

Mitch has his first round of test this week so be praying for him! Y'all have a great week and stay warm!!!

Valentine's Weekend Getaway

This valentine's day was a little different than our past valentines, but none the less it was perfect. I am so thankful I'm married to a wonderful guy who puts other first and portrays Christ's love throughout our marriage. We normally do the whole flowers, chocolates and fancy dinners. And don't get me wrong I love all that! We normally don't go eat super fancy places on a normal basis, so special occasions Mitch always out does himself! He works so hard to make me feel like the most special girl in the world and I couldn't be more thankful for that.

This year, we decided to forgo the flowers and fancy dinner and take a trip to Nashville. We knew we didn't have the funds to do both and we thought a trip would be more fun. And Mitch knows I would choose a trip over material gifts any day. So Friday morning we left for Nashville. I love we are only 2 hours away and it really doesn't seem like a far drive. I feel like we have spend more time exploring and doing fun adventures in Nashville than in Jackson, but I guess thats because we both love the city.

So anyways Friday we got there and just hung out in Nashville all day. We had fun shopping and then we went and picked up our race packets, which leads me to my next story.

My best friend Elizabeth and I love to run races together. We try to meet up and run a few races together each year. Well this year one of our races was the Hot Chocolate Run in Dallas. Well when it got closer I realized it was the weekend after we were getting back and settled in TN after being for for 2 months, so as much as I wanted to do it, making the drive back a week later wasn't going to happen. So long story, she ran it by herself and called me immediately called me and told me I had to do it and it was the best race ever. I was sad I didn't get to do it and I knew it is not offered but in a handful of cities across the US. So for fun I looked it up and saw their was one in Nashville. I got so excited and then realized it was only 5 days away. I knew we probably wouldn't get everything together but mentioned it to Mitch anyways. To my surprise, he was all for it and wanted to make it a weekend trip for Valentines..so thats how our Valentines weekend getaway came along. I don't think he was as excited about the race, but it was so sweet how he "got excited" and did it for me and i'll talk more in a minute, but we both had a great time!

Back to Friday night we went to The Pharmacy, it is a famous burger joint in Nashville and it is seriously the best! There are a handful of restaurants in Nashville that I would recommend and this is at the top of the list. It's nothing fancy but oh so good! We spent the rest of the night hanging around downtown and then crashed since we had the race in the morning.

So not only was the race early on a Saturday morning, but the temp was in the teens when we woke up. We had to get up at 5 and be at the race by 6. It was freezing, but when we started running it actually wasn't bad. The temp warmed up and the sun came out and we had a great time. Now the best part about this race, when you finish you get a massive mug of all things chocolate.

best reward for running a race

You get hot coco, chocolate fondue and everything you can think of to dip in it. It was seriously the best race I've ever ran in. Also, if the chocolate wasn't good enough this was the best organized race I have ever been to. I always critique races because usually you pay a lot to run and I feel like you don't get what you paid for. This one was so different. You got a NICE thermal jacket (we haven't taken ours off) and all the water and Gatorade you want. If you are a runner and have been to races where this is lacking, you know this is a huge deal. Also at all the stops, they had chocolate treats!! So if you get a chance to run this race, I highly recommend it.

freezing but so worth it!

If you can't tell, I was pumped about this chocolate mug

After the race, we enjoyed our chocolate treats and then went back to the hotel to shower and get ready for our day. We spent all morning in Nashville and then Mitch took me to a nice lunch at Alegria. It was an upscale Mexican restaurant that was so good!!

we love Las Paletas!

We did a little more exploring, of course got popsicles from Las Paletas and then headed back home. But of course I have to mention- while we were in Nashville I was supporting some of my Rustic Cuff collection. I thought since I talked about it last post, I wouldn't share a picture. It seriously is the best addition for your outfit and they come in every color so you can wear them everyday!!

We had plans to make this big dinner at home, chicken lasagna and chocolate covered strawberries. Well we were still so stuffed from our lunch, we decided not to cook the dinner. It is a very long and involved process and also a very heavy meal. But we didn't skip out on making the chocolate covered strawberries!

Okay, so they weren't pretty but they were delicious!

So we had a nice relaxing night at home and exchanged gifts (we kept it small) and enjoyed chocolate covered strawberries and we might of watched serval episodes of New Girl. If you haven't watched this show it is hilarious!!! And it's only a 30 min show so on Netflix its even shorter.

Starbucks, chocolate and a monogrammed Yeti mug. He knows the way to my heart!

It was a perfect weekend, but now we are back to reality and Mitch has been studying all evening. I am currently wrapped up on the couch watching Parenthood (another show I love and recommend) waiting on the snow. I guess we are expected to get lots of ice and 5-7 inches of snow. We will see what actually happens. I hate cold weather, especially when it gets this cold, but I do like a good snow. I am not all about snow all the time, but once or twice a year I do like a good snow and since we havent had much this year, I'm okay with some snow! I am thankful I don't have any sub jobs lined up, I am looking forward to being home and enjoying the snow from my couch. Also, last week I subbed several times and their were ONLY 3 kids in my class all week. All the rest had the flu and one day one of them went home at lunch with a 102 degree fever. So I feel like my immune system could use a break.

Lysol- my new best friend

Hope y'all stay safe warm in this crazy snow storm!

Random (Friday) Ramblings..

This is a very random post, but I am sitting here with the alarm guy and have nothing better to do. We are upgrading our alarm. We have had several issues over the past few months and since it is their fault they are paying for our new upgraded alarm system (well we are having to pay a small fee, but it's totally worth the upgrade). Long story short, we have had several mishaps they haven't been able to tell us what is wrong because when they installed it back in August they said we didn't need a new keypad. Well every time something happens they say they can't tell us any info on it because we don't have their keypad. It's been a mess and since we are out of town a lot and well, since we live in Jackson (ha) we didn't think twice when they offered to upgrade for us.

This week has been pretty low key. Mitch has been trying to get in a  routine for his classes this semester. He has some tough classes, Basics of Anesthesia, Pharmacology and Pathophysiology just to name a few. Sometimes I don't know how he does it. Regardless how hard it is, he is loving everything about this his classes and this university in general.

I have been just getting things done around the house and hanging with Bella. We have had a few really pretty days, and then some just awful cold days where we don't like to leave the house. So when it is pretty out, we take advantage and get outside to do something. We have a full frisbee golf course on campus and Mitch has really gotten into it. So on nice days, he goes and plays and I walk along with Bella!

I have also been keeping up with my half marathon training and its going well. I am one week down and would really like some warmer weather to get here and stay! I have also started investing in some new Nike running clothes. I am that person that goes to Dicks and sees so many things for running but will not buy them because of the price. But since I had some Christmas money I decided to get some new running tights and dry fit tops and tanks. Let me tell you, it has made the world of difference! I think part is mental because its always fun to workout in new fun clothes, but also these running tights are so nice and the dry fit tops and tanks are SO much better than working out in t-shirts. They may be expensive, but I have decided they are worth it. With as much as I run/workout they def last longer and feel better on my body. I also have discovered the SPI belt. I was in need of somewhere to keep my phone when I run since I got the new iPhone Plus. It's too big to have on my arm and I like to run with my phone in case of an emergency. So I saw these at a booth at the Tulsa run and meant to go back and get one and forgot, but to my luck they sell them at Dicks, or you can order form their website. I will admit, I was skeptical at first, but when I used it I was impressed. I thought it would be bulky and move around when I ran. Let me tell you it is perfect. I can't even tell I have it on and it also allows me to keep my key/ID/money with me when I run.

This is the size/color I have and I got the Plus size belt just because I wasn't sure if my phone would fit in the "original size" belt (you can see all the sizes on the website). But honestly I can't tell a difference. I was afraid when it was called 'Plus Size" because I didn't want it to be bulky and big. I think any of them would work, but the plus size works perfect for me for what I need. I would recommend this size if you have an iPhone Plus. And it doesn't feel "plus size". It's actually very small, and I can't tell the difference in the plus vs original, the only thing I can think of is maybe it stretches a little more? Even if I didn't have the iPhone Plus I would have one of these. People wear them all different ways, but I just strap mine around my waist and let me shirt hang over it so you can't see it. Check them out here. They have all sorts of colors and styles... and they are very reasonably priced.

This is a totally different subject, but my sweet little second grader, Hadley, that I continue to keep up with decided she wants to start a veggie garden this spring. I know y'all don't know her, but she is like 7 going on 25 and when she says she is going to start a veggie garden... she will. She is super smart and very mature for her age. So when I had ice cream with her before I felt Tulsa, she told me all about it. Well the next day I was at Restoration Hardware and saw the cutest little "junior gardner" set. I just had to get it. So I mailed it to her the other day and this was the picture I got...

It comes will all the stuff needed to start a garden and she was so excited, it made my day!
Again on a different note (I told you this post would be random), I thought I would share my new obsession. Rust Cuff. If you have not heard of this go check it out here. They have a showroom in Tulsa that has all their jewelry but they also ship anywhere. They do have limited pieces in little boutiques around the US, so if you go to their website, it will tell you if their is a store near you that carries some. I have never been a huge jewelry person- I am your typical simple necklace and pearl earrings girl, but I LOVE RUSTIC CUFF! I have never bene a bracelet wearer, but now I do not leave the house without one of these on. They are not to crazy and just make your outfit so cute without being over the top. The stuff varies in prices. Some is super expensive and some is very reasonably priced. But if you watch the website and go into the Tulsa store as much as I when I'm in town you see they everything will go on sale at some point. Thats when I usually tend to buy my stuff. I had a friend give me a piece last year and every since I have bene hooked. I have a collection started and I don't see it stopping anytime soon. I may have a list a mile long of new RC pieces I want for my birthday :)  Check it out- you will thank me! Oh and they also make the perfect gifts!

Also, speaking of my birthday, I am trying to come up with something I need and I really need a new straightener. I have had several CHI's and they just done seem to last. I feel like every year I have to buy a new one, so I am done with CHI's. I have been researching and have it narrowed down between two- A Babyliss or a Usmooth. I was set on asking for a Babyliss because I have heard great things about them and I have the Babyliss blowdryer and its incredible. No complaints at all and I have had the blowdryer for about 2 years now. They are a little pricey, but with the amount of thick wavy hair I have its worth the investment. Well last time I got my hair cut my hair stylist introduced me to the Usmooth, I had never heard of it before. She had a special on them for Christmas and just the few hours I was in the salon her clients kept coming in to buy them before she ran out. She said they are the new thing and are so wonderful. She said you can't go wrong with either, but the research I have done on the Usmooth is pretty impressive. I was leaning toward Babyliss, but now I think I may want to try the Usmooth. The OCD in my wants the Babyliss so it matches my blowdryer (pathetic, I know), but the curious side of me really wants to try the Usmooth. So my reason for this rant, if any if y'all have a straighter you like, or have used one of these two and have pros or cons about them let me know!

Thats about all we have going on around here. Saturday we are making a trip to Memphis before Mitch's schedule gets too crazy and he is taking me to Bahama Breeze for dinner!! I LOVE Bahama Breeze. It was one of the first places he took me when we started dating and always seemed to end up there when we went out to eat, and then the one in OKC went out of business, so we make a point to go when we are in the south. Well when we moved here, we found out we have one in Memphis and we are super excited! Then Sunday will be dedicated to church and the Grammys. I love watching award shows, especially music!

Hope y'all have a great weekend!

We're back!!

It's been awhile and I feel like I have a lot to cover. I don't really know where to start, so I'll just begin.

Well we are back in TN and to be honest it feels so good to be back. We have been back a week and it is just so nice to be back around our stuff and be on our own schedule. I LOVED LOVED LOVED our time back home and I think it was really good for me. I thought I wasn't going to be this happy to be back here, but I think after getting back and settled, it hit me that we are not on someone else schedule anymore and Mitch and I can do what we want to do. We are both very happy and ready to get back into OUR routine and not someone else's.

Over our break we were able to spend a lot of time back and forth between Tulsa and Arkansas. We spend lots of time Tulsa, but thats because thats where all our friends are. We were out doing something with friends almost every day/night and it was so nice to catch up with everyone.

I don't think I could tell you about our whole break- 2 months is a lot to post about, or just remember in general. So i'll tell you about some of our highlights.

New Years Eve we went out with a group from our Sunday school class to Villa Reveena and it was so fun. I always laugh because I keep calling them our "Sunday school" friends and I guess because thats where we all met, but they are so much more than that. These people have become our core group of friends back in Tulsa and couldn't imagine going through life without them. I have said this before, but when we joined that class I couldn't imagine this would've come out of it. I love these couples and I need to stop calling them SS friends, because they are so much more.

Another highlight would be Garth Brooks!!And Trisha! If you know me at all I equally like Trisha Yearwood! Mitch makes fun of me, but I have always loved her. My favorite part of every concert is when they sing In Another's Eye. Its my favorite song ever and I could watch them perform it over and over again. This was my 4th time and Mitch's 3rd time(and wont be our last) and it was just as wonderful as ever. You will never be disappointed at a Garth show. I saw him back in his prime when I was younger and he still puts on the same show, maybe even better. We were kind of disappointed with our seats when we first bought them, but we had to buy so many together we knew we would probably not get great seats. I wasn't that concerned because 1. no matter where you sit in a garth show (esp in the BOK Center) every seat is good. 2. We have seen him front row before and yes as much as I wanted that again, we had been there before. But when we got there, to much of our surprise, we actually had great seats. We were on the front row in the 300's section on the side and we were amazed by how great our seats were. I would get those seats again for another show! My parents, brother, good friends of the family, Will and Michelle and Caleb and Shannon were all were there and it was a blast! We keep waiting for more announcements of his shows, because we will be def going to more.

Love doing life with this guy

The girls at Garth and Trisha

We also made our annual trip to Dallas. I say annual- we actually go quite a few times a year, especially when Mitch's brother and SIL lived there. But I say annual because every January we always go stay with my good friend Elizabeth and her husband. They are wonderful hosts and always take us to do the neatest things in downtown Dallas. We had a blast and always look forward to our time with them. The only downfall to that trip was the Green Bay game. I am not even going to go into it, but we were a little depressed that evening.

Dinner at Amberjacks Fish Market

We got a new gun for Christmas and had to try it out

Food trucks in the park- this was pre-game, we were happy ready to cheer on our Packers!

And the last highlight of our trip was we celebrated Mitch's brother, Will's 30th birthday. His wife, Michelle and I have been putting this together for over a month and it was so fun! She did majority of the work, but it was a blast to help her with the little details that she couldn't hide well from Will.  Mitch and I came into town a day early and ran all the errands, got the cake and decorations and decorated the house. I think we had over 20 people there and he was so surprised.

So that was our break in highlights. Like I said earlier, we are back in Jackson and ready to start the next journey here. Mitch started back classes today and only has one class on Tuesday mornings. It's an early one.. and a long one, but it's an anesthesia class and he already loves it! He is spending this week trying to get in a routine and get organized with all his new classes. I am subbing a lot. I actually got a call the day we got back here and I subbed for 1st grade and just love being back in the classroom. I miss it so much.

We have been trying church's like crazy to find a place where we belong. We went to one this past Sunday and loved the small group. The main service is okay, but we are really concerned on finding a small community group to get connected. We went to their super bowl party Sunday night and it was a lot easier to get to know people in that setting, rather than Sunday school. So we are pretty excited about that.

My parents were suppose to come spend the weekend and part of next week here with us, but my dad has jury duty now. So they are trying to find a different weekend. I think it actually worked out good, because I feel like we just left and I will want them to come when we have been here while and are ready to see some familiar faces!

Have a great week and i'm jealous of you if you are getting lots of warm weather this week (my Tulsa friends). We are not warming up much here but I am so ready for those warm spring days!!
