The big 2-4

I feel like we have been celebrating my birthday for over a week now, but today is my offical birthday! I am now one year away from being 25!! Weird!

Mitchs granparents came in town last week and took me out to dinner to celebrate and then we celebrated with my immediate family this weekend in Kansas City! Tonight Mitch is taking me out to dinner wherever I want, so I am tryig to decide what sounds good :)

I was surprised today at work with a little birthday celebration! Some ladies took me out to lunch at Hog Haus and then we came back and they had everyone in the office to wish me a happy birthday! One girl made me a hommeade peach pie and ice cream! It was so sweet for them to think of me on my birthday!

My family has always been big on birthdays and we have to always celebrate everyone in the familys birthdays!  Ever since I can remember, we have this tradtion when it is somones birthday, we get the whole family together and we can request whatever we want for our meal and whatever we want for our birthday dessert! Its so fun and I hope to carry on that tradition with our kids one day! So we have not celebrated my birthday with my whole family yet and I think we are going to end up doing a joint party for Mitch and I this year. I am not going to have a chance to go back home, execpt maybe easter sunday, until May. And since Mitchs birthday is April 27, my mom thought it would be easiest to do it all together! I always look forward to those. I just love when all the family gets together!

Other than that, its been pretty relaxed around here! I feel like this next month is going to be crazy busy! I have to make mutiple trips to Dallas in the next month to help with Elizabeths wedding and although its a lot of traveling, I am so excited for her!

Thank y'all for the birthday wishes today!

KC Birthday weekend!

Happy Monday! I hope y'all had a nice weekend/spring break! I thought I was going to have to work some last week, but come to find out I didnt! The university was so slow since there is no one on campus, so I only had to work a half day monday-tuesday and then I was off. It was really nice since mitch was off as well. I really enjoy being at my job and it wouldnt have bothered me to work, but since Mitch had off all week,  I enjoyed staying home! I have been so busy and traveling a ton, so it was nice to stay home and get cought up on sleep.

This past weekend, Mitch took me to Kansas City to celebrate my birthday! I just love KC, it is such a fun place with the best shopping! We met my family up there and it was nice to get to spent some time with them. Friday we slept in and shopped all day! We started out at one of my favorite outdoor malls, Zona Rosa, and shopped there the majority of the day.

That night we took my parents to Oklahoma Joes.. it is a bbq place inside a gas station. I have blogged about it before, but it is really good bbq. My parents have been to the one in OK, but wanted to try this one. It was delicious as usually and we got there just in time. We waited in line for about 20 minutes and by the time we ordered the line was all the way out the door into the parking lot.

After we ate, we went to Legends mall, it is another outdoor mall and shooped until about 9 that night. We were all so worn out, we went back to the hotel and went straight to bed. It was such a fun day and I got lots of new work clothes. At my old job, the attire was pretty simple, business professional. But here st the U of A, they are super relaxed. You can dress up as much as you want or just wear nice jeans with a cute top/blazer. I am goign to buy some new razorback shirts this week, as long as you dress them up a litte, they let you wear them! I love that!

Saturday, we went and had breakfast and then headed to the KC City Market. I have been multiple times with my parents and we love it. I am obsessed with famers markets and this is the same concept on a much larger scale. We got there at 10:00 and didn't leave until about 1:00 and I dont know if we covered it all. The have sections of food, spices, plants, music, clothes, art, etc... it goes on forever! But we love it and it was the perfect morning to be outside!

We headed to the plaza for lunch and yes.. more shopping. I love the atmosphere of the plaza and not to mention all the shops... it is huge! Most of the stores are on the high end and are super pricey, but they have others as well and it is always fun to just look. That night my parents wanted me to pick a restraunt for my birthday and there re so many good ones in KC. My favorite is cheesecake factory, but we have one in Tulsa and I wanted to eat somehere we dont get to have a lot. So I had decided on Bucca De Peppo, Mitch and I just love it. But later on that day, Mitch told me there is a restraunt he went to with a bunch of the guys called Strouds. He told me it was a down home cookin, which he knows is my favorite. He reassured me it was good, and so I decided on there for dinner.

This place was amazing... if you like fried chicken, this place is a must if you are ever in KC! It is this old style farm house on hundreds of acres and they are know for their old fashion, pan fried chicken and everything is served family style. OMG... it was all so delicious and I ate way to much! At the end they bring you our fresh, hot hommeade cinomon rolls that are to die for! Everything about this place was amazing and we will always make a trip back to Strouds when er go to KC!

Sunday we didnt do much, slept in, had brerakfast and later headed home. We got home in time to hang out with Will and Michelle for little bit. We hated we were out of town the weekend they were here, but it was nice to see them for a while.

I also got a few birthday presents a little early! My SIL, knows me to well and got me Victoria Secret "Pink" Yoga pants! I have two other pair that are full length pants and I have been wanting some cropped ones so bad! My parents got me a new watch and I am in love. I love that it is silver and gold!

Michelle also got me the cutest picture frame with a picture of us four on our cruise! I love it!
Mitch's parents also gave me a new Vera Bradely bag!! I have been wanting this bag for weeks and I looked for it everywhere this weekend! I am so excited and it fits everything in it!! I have spent the majority of my morning on the Vera Bradely website.. I have few more things I am excited to order :)

Bella went to the groomer today and ended up having to get shaved. She looks so bad, but I know she will like it for the summer. We were planning on getting her trimmed shorter, her hair was about 4in long! But they said she was so matted they couldn't just trim her down, but they had to shave her. I didn't want to do it at first, but it is better for her in the long run. She was getting ticks really bad and she could barely go on a run with me because it was so hot, and its only been in the 80's! I couldn't imagine this summer when it gets really hot! So she may look ridiculous, but she is cool and no more ticks! They said they found 3 dead ticks on her when they shaved her! I can't wait for her to just grow out about in inch and she will look fine!

Other than that, we have just been taking it easy. Yesterday it was in the 80's and from the moment we got home, we spent all afternoon outside! I offically got my first sun burn of the season :)

I hope y'all have a wonderful week and enjoy this amazing weather!!

What we've been up to...

So I know I have been bad about updating lately, so I am just going to do a big overview of what we've been up too.

I am going on my 3rd week at the U of A and I am still loving it. This week is spring break and I only have to work a few days and they will be short. There is not a lot to do when the students and faculty aren't on campus. So I am excited about that. We are taking a "field trip" wednesday to Crystal Bridges, so I only have to be at work until 10 then we get a tour and lunch. Although I have been, I figured why not get paid to go and get off half a day, so I can't complain.

Last weekend was Elizabeths bachelorette party and it was so nice to see all the girls! I went down early with Elizabeth and we had lunch and decorated the hotel. We stayed downtown brick town so it was a fun atmosphere with everything they have going on. Mitch and I got to OKC a lot and we just love it there! Once we got everything decorated we got ready and everyone showed up. We played some games and then went to dinner at Zios.

We came back to the hotel and played more games and opened presents! It was so fun and I loved getting to catch up with everyone . Sunday we got up and all went to Shawnee to eat at Vans. There is really not much to say about that, Vans is always delicious!

When I got back to Arkansas that night, Mitch's aunt, uncle and cousins were in town from Memphis so we spent a lot of time with them all last week. We got a new restaurant downtown on the square called Flying Fish and we have been dying to try it, so last wednesday night we all went and it was so good! We highly recommend it. It is a chain, and they have amazing seafood and New Orleans style food. Mitch went expecting crawfish, but they aren't going to be in season until next week, so we will be making a trip back soon :) I got crawfish chowder to start with and then shrimp and catfish for my entree, I t came with fries and hushpuppies and they were to die for!! If you live here and haven't tried to, or are visiting, its a must.

This weekend, I was really looking forward to staying home and relaxing, but I got a call from Alfred Angelo and my dress was in for Elizabeths wedding and I had to try it on before I could pick it up. Since we have so much going on these next cupel of weeks I was not going to be in Tulsa again until after the wedding, we had no choice but to go to Tulsa and try it on. Saturday morning we left and made it to tulsa a little before lunch time. We went and tried on the dress and then went and had lunch with scott at a new mexican restaurant Chuys. I have eaten at them before in Dallas, and love them! I am pretty picky on mexican food and I think this might be my favorite. I think it will go over great in Tulsa!

We were so exhausted and were planning on just resting all weekend, and even though we had to come to Tulsa, we went home after lunch and took a 2 hour nap! My parents weren't home, they left friday for Taos, NM to go skiing so we didn't have any plans and just relaxed all day! That night we went out with some friends to dinner and cherry street for st. patty day. We aren't really big on the whole scene of 15th street, but it was fun to just get out and see all the people. It was a beautiful night and we were just able to hang out with friends! I really enjoyed it!

We came home this morning and have been relaxing all day. We are suppose to get some bad storms/flooding this week, so we spent the day outside trying to soak up this beautiful weather!

Mitch only works thursday this week and I have a relaxing short week and then on thursday night we are headed to KC for the weekend! I love KC so Mitch told me he was going to take me there for my birthday! He knows I love it there and my family is going to met us up there, I am really looking forward to it! I am excited for lots of yummy food and shopping at the plaza! It is def one of my favorite weekend getaway spots!

So thats what we have been up to, nothing to exciting, just really busy! Have a wonderful week!

My first week at the U of A!

So I survived my first week and a half at the U of A! I had a wonderful week and think I am really going to enjoy this job!

All of my paperwork wasn't in the system until Friday, and until they get all that processed I didnt have my uark email, ID card, login... so there wasnt a ton for me to do. So I pretty much just hung out and was able to organize my desk, order my business cards and my AR name badge and  meet everyone. It was really nice. I am going to be able to ease into the position and as I feel ready they will be giving me more projects to do.

I just love being on a college campus! I have always wanted to work at a college, it just a fun atmosphere! There is always so much going on the day just flies by! I went through orientation Monday-Wednesday of this week and although its long and boring it is very helpful and actually interesting to hear about all the traditions of the U of A. Last week they took me on a tour of campus in a golf cart.. I am so glad we don't have to walk ha! Not only is this a huge campus, but it is so hilly!!!

I am sure I will have more to say over the next few weeks as I get settled, but thank you for all the encouragement and prayers this week.. I had an overwhelming amount of texts and calls last Monday morning from y'all and I really appreciate it!

On another note... the weather has been incredible oer the past week! This whole week it has been in the 80's and I am loving every minute of it! I get off at 4:30 and now that it is lighter longer I get to spend lots of time outside! Summer is right around the corner and I can not wait!!!!

Sorry I have abandon my blog over the past week. I have actually had a lot of extra time with the new job, but I have been spending lots of time outside enjoying this beautiful weather!! Mitch's aunt and uncle and cousins have been in town this week so we have been spending time with them. I will try and post soon about what we have been up to! Have a wonderful week!!!

Week highlights

Happy Sunday! The weather as been beautiful here today! Bella and I have been outside the majority of the day!

We have had a pretty uneventful week. I have been preparing for my new job and Mitch has been working a lot. Although we haven't had much exciting happened, I thought I would share some highlights of this past week .

This was my last week of work and it was bitter sweet. I love how flexible they were with me and I will miss our patients so much! It has been a good job, but this offer at the U of A was too good. I have always wanted to work at a University and I think the U of A will be a great it for me.

American Idol has officially started. I know the auditions have been going on for a while, but I love when the live show starts. I am rooting for Phillip Phillps! The one thing I don't like about AI is it is on for 2 hours 3 nights a week.. thats a little much. Thank goodness for dvr!

I came home from work last week and I had dinner all ready for me.. including my favorite... Apple pie! I am always so tired from work, and when I get home I like to get my workout in, but sometimes that means I don't have the time to make a nice dinner. So I got home the other day, went on a run, and came home to chicken, sweet potato casserole and apple pie! I was so excited. I just love that Mitch knows just when I need that!

My friends, bachelorette party that I have been planning for months is this weekend! I am super excited and hope everything comes together! I all leave for OKC friday and I am so excited to see all of our friends!!! I have turned our office into bachelorette central.. I'm sure Mitch loves that haha :)

We both had the weekend off and it was so nice to relax at home and not be traveling anywhere. We haven't had a weekend like that in what seems like forever. We got so much done around the house and spend friday night with our friends over at the Buettemeyers!

I re-organized my bathroom this weekend. I know that is not very exciting to y'all, but I love organizing! Here are some of the before and after pics...

Before...

After...

Before

After..
I got baskets from hobby lobby to help organize!

I didn't have a before for this one, but just trust me... it looks a ton better!

Also, this week I tried VersaSpa for the first time and I am addicted. I wanted to get a little bit of color for all the stuff I have coming up and my friend, Natalie recommended it. I saw a groupon for it a while back so I bought two. I did my first one wednesday afternoon and I can tell a huge difference. Usually throughout the winter and around this time, I wear bronzer on my face and I haven't tad to even think about putting it on. I have done mystic tan before and hated it, so I was a little nervous to try this but I love it. It has a moisturizer in it, so you don't get as dried out and it doesn't turn your finger and toes orange. Its a little more expensive than mystic tan and a lot more expensive than laying in a bed, but so much better for you. I am doing my next one thursday and can't wait. They last about 2 weeks, but I am trying to use it for this party this weekend. I highly recommend it, if you just wanting quick results for something!

And I guess the most important thing is.. I start my job at the U of A tomorrow!! I am so ready! They have been trying to process all of my paperwork and it takes forever, so most likey I will not have access to much this week, but as soon as everything is approved and I get my uark email address I will be good to go. Until then, I can't get my parking pass, login, employee id (which gets me discounts of sporting events and into the hyper), so I am patiently waiting on that :) Mitch got me this new cup when he found out I got the job...

I love these kinds of cups, you can put hot and cold in it! I have a smaller one I just for coffee right now, but I am excited to be able to put my hot coffee in the morning and water or iced coffee in the afternoon!
I am hoping I am not too terribly overwhelmed after my first day to do a post tomorrow about how it all went! But if so, I will post soon!

Have a wonderful week!

Updated blog!

Happy March!! I hope y'all are enjoying this beautiful day! I had to go over to the U of A campus on my lunch and it was so nice to be outside for a while! There is really nothing better than sunny and 75 degrees!!

So, about a month ago, I decided I wanted to change my blog. It has a new design, new name and with that comes a new URL. Well it did not all click together that no one could see my new blog until I started recieved text message after text message from people asking me why I deleted it. So then I realized that everyone was still going to the old URL.

So, I think it is all fixed and I guess I have been blogging for about a week now with no one reading.. so if you want go back and catch up on whats been going on in our lives, and if not, I hope you enjoy the blog!

Have a wonderful day :)
