Tulsa Run and Friends

We had a wonderful weekend! On Friday my good friend Elizabeth got here, we have been planning a weekend for her to come for what seems like forever now. It was so nice to see her and spend the weekend with her.

When she got here, we made the trip to downtown tulsa to pick up our packets for the tulsa run. After we got done with that mess, we went to celebrate my good friend Peter's birthday. We went to his girlfriend Libby's house for a cookout. It was fun to see some old college friends, and of course enjoy some yummy food.
Later evening we me up with some friends from OBU at Starbucks. It is always good to catch up with college friends. A few of us went back to our house and just continued to have a girls night and catch up on each others lives. We stayed up way too late, especially with the run in the morning.

Speaking of the run... It was FREEZING.. literally! When we got there our car said 31 degrees!!!

We hid out in a parking garage to escape the wind until right before the run started. Well the good thing about that was, we stayed semi warm but the bad thing was we got stuck in the back with the 12:00 min pace people. Now we haven't been training much and we aren't pros by any means, but for the first mile and a half, it was so packed, we couldn't pass anyone and went SO slow!!! It was extremely frustrating and finally when we saw the 3K marker sign was when we were actually able to get by people and run our pace. So we ended with a time of 35 minutes, which was kind of disappointing, but we were literally "stuck" the whole first half of the race.

So knowing that, we actually did good at making up our time for that last mile. But other than that we had blast running it and I would do it again in heart beat! I'm hoping to run a little longer distance.. Mitch gets frustrated with me when I pay to run a 5k when I run more than that every day ha! But I love it and tell him it's about the experience :)

After the race, Elizabeth, Katie, Tommy, Mitch and I went to Los Cabos for lunch and then back to our house to relax.

Around 1, Mitch decided to take a nap.. He had worked a lot the few days before and was running on a few hours of sleep. So Elizabeth and I went to downtown Jenks and hit up all the antique shops. I love that all the shops now have all that vintage/rustic stuff thats in style now. I didn't get anything, but I do have my eye on a few things. Elizabeth got a cute little rustic end table. We may have stopped in at CookieDoodle and got Halloween cookies. These are the BEST cookies ever!
After our antique adventure, we went to the Vintage Pearl. She saw it online and wanted to order a necklace, but she had no idea they are based out of Jenks. So we went there and we both ended up getting new necklaces ha! If you have never been they have hand stamped silver jewelry. You can check it out here. They have some of the cutest stuff!!! It can get expensive, especially if you customize your order, which is almost what you have to do. Thats what Mitch did for me last valentines day. He got me two charms, one with a "f" initial on a heart and then a rectangle with our wedding date on it. But the neat thing they do is, they have a tables with jars full of older and mistake pieces that people have ordered and they aren't correct. They are not defective in any way, someone may have just ordered a name and they spelled it the wrong way, or the font wasn't the one they wanted. So they have jars full of charms of names and initials. So if you want to take this time to go through them all they are only $8 per charm. So thats what we ended up doing. Elizabeth got one with Kevin's name and her initials and I found a circle charm with "frank" on it and a small copper heart. (And they all come with a pearl). It makes the necklace SO much cheaper if you can find the name/initials you want. We were pretty excited about our new necklaces!

We just spend the rest of the afternoon and evening hanging out at home and relaxing. We were so tired from getting up so early for the run. Shannon came over later and we cooked dinner at home and watched a movie. I just love we are all still so close and it is so nice to do this every once in a while!

Sunday Elizabeth left in the morning and Mitch and I went to church. After church we came home took naps.. ha.. and then went out and spent the afternoon at Woodward Park with Bella.

It was the perfect day and she loved it! There were lots of people out with their dogs. We hope to get out there more while the weather is still so nice. The park is SO pretty right now. The trees are huge and the colors are gorgeous! And it is a special place to me, because thats where Mitch proposed :)

That about sums up our weekend! We had a great time with friends and hope to do it again soon. This week we have fall parties at school, a cookout thursday with our life group and Michelle flys in friday afternoon!!! She is coming to spend the weekend in Tulsa, and we are going to make a trip to Bentonville to see one of our friends get married! I just love this time of year and all the fun things going on.

Hope y'all have a wonderful week and happy (early) halloween!

Fall Break

Hello! So these past few weeks have not only been crazy busy, but on top of that I have been sick. I can't seem to get rid of whatever I have and it is driving me crazy. For about three weeks, I have been sick and finally a about a week and a half ago I went to the doctor. I would always think I'm getting better, then it would come back 10x worse. So they gave me a couple antibiotics, come pills for my cough and they said if I wanted instant relief I would have the option for a steroid shot. I was at the point where I would do anything so I willingly agreed to the shot. Well they forgot to tell me it was a shot in the butt. I went ahead with it and I could barely even sit... It was so sore! But anyways I am finally starting to feel better.

Since I have been sick I haven't been able to run :( I was really bummed out at first because I have been wanting to do the tulsa run with my friends for a long time now and new I was going to be a little behind and have to really pick up my training, but then last week I talked to a few of them that we're doing it with me and they have all decided not to do it or to just do the 5k. They were all too busy to train for the 15k and so it did make me a little more happy that I could still do it with them and not having to worry about being so far behind in the training.

This past week I was on fall break and it was so nice! I LOVE having all these breaks again :)
I was in need of a little break and it came just at the right time. I am doing the finishing touches on our house. We have guests coming in the next few weekends, so I am trying to get it all done.
I worked Monday and Tuesday then I was done! I actually feel like I have been off forever and I am was glad to get back and see my kids :)

Tuesday when I got off I relaxed and did nothing! It was nice to get off at 3 and not have to worry about work the next day. Wednesday I made a trip to hobby lobby, target, kirklands and bed bath and beyond to get house stuff. It was so nice to get up and get all my errands done before 12.
Later that evening I met some girls from my life group at Starbucks. None of us new anyone coming into this group, so we are all trying to get to know each other. All the girls are so sweet and we are all at the same place in our lives, so it's nice to be able to talk about things we all seem to be going through. But anyways we met because we are in charge of planning events for the rest of the group. They wanted someone to take charge and plan stuff each week for us to to so me and two other girls are doing that and it's a blast!

Thursday, Mitch and I just hung out and it was so nice not to have any plans. We had a couple day trips planned for the week since we were both off, but ended up just staying home and it was perfect. I can't remember a time when we just stayed home with nothing planned. On weekends we don't have anything to do, we always seem to travel, which I love, but I forgot how much I need these days to stay at home and be lazy.

Friday we had tickets to see the Thunder game here in Tulsa! So we worked on the house some (I feel like we are never going to be finished) and went to dinner at Charleston's before the game. We had a blast at the game and are looking forward to going to more games this year.

Saturday, my mom and I made the trip back to AR for craft fairs!! I literally look forward to this all year! They have some the cutest stuff and best food!

We made it to AR by 8am and first went to my favorite craft fair at the Embassy. They have the best stuff there!! I got some cute things and of course Hogs stuff! I also got a new china hutch for my kitchen!!! I am beyond excited about it. I have been looking for one since I got married and cant seem to find one I like. I have been really picky, but with as expensive as they are I want to love it. I have always wanted an antique/distressed looking one and I walked by this booth and I saw this big red hutch and about fell over. It was a great price and I knew that was the one I wanted! It was exactly what I had been envisioning in my head.

My mom actually ended up getting it for me for a early Christmas present. We are having to store it at Mitch's parents right now until we can get a truck, so we will most likely be making another trip to b'ville very soon!

After that craft fair, we went out to the biggest one, War Eagle. It was so neat to get to see it and it was such a fun atmosphere. The only downside was it took about 2 hours to drive 20 miles!

The traffic was so crazy! I knew during craft fair weekend traffic is always bad, but i have never seen anything like that! Luckily the drive out there was one of the prettiest drives I have ever seen. It was these old back roads and the trees are at their peak right now so it was absolutely gorgeous! Speaking of fall and leaves, there is this trail/hike Mitch and I have been wanting to do called the Talimena trail and it goes from Talihina,OK to Mena, AR and we have heard it is one of the most beautiful places  and a famous drive. So I think here in the next month we are going to drive down there and hike it. I can't wait!

Sunday, I went to church and then met up with my family, we had some extended family in from AR so I spent the day with them and trying to get ready to go back to work after break.

On a completely different note, I have been obsessed with this shop on Etsy called Swanky Sooie and that make the cutest razorback shirts and other little things. I got my first shirt I ordered in today and LOVE it!

And I may have picked up Taylor Swift's new album today :) Love it already!

I hope y'all had a good break/week and are enjoying this beautiful weather!

Fair, Arkansas and Razorback game!

Happy Monday! I am usually not so excited about Mondays, but this week I only have to work two days, so tomorrow is my Friday! I am so ready for this break and I am excited to finally get the finishing touches done with my house during that time. We finally have everything in place and most stuff hung on the walls, but I do have to make a few more trips to hobby Lobby for some stuff! I will post pics as soon as I get everything at least semi in order.

These past few weeks have been busy with moving in, but so fun! Last week we went to the fair! It was a blast and we ate way too much :)

Headed to the fair!!

the girls!

Mitch had to try the deep fried peanut butter cups.. and yes they were actually very delicious!

We also spent this past weekend in Arkansas again. We just love being able to go back for a quick trip. We love being in Tulsa, but there are those things in AR we do miss and its nice to be able to still in NWA. Since we lived there for two years, it feels so normal and like it is still "our" town when we go back. Nothing really seems to change or feel different about being there. We got there Friday afternoon, hung out and had dinner that night. Saturday, we slept in, took Bella to the Farmer's Market and then on a long walk at the CB Trails. Right after lunch I went on run on the trails and it was a beautiful day!!

I had to stop on my run and take a picture, the trees were all changing and so pretty. This picture doesn't even do justice of the bright reds and yellows. I do miss running this all the time!

After my run, we took a little nap and watched some football. Then we headed to spend the afternoon on Fayetteville and go to the Razorback game that night. We ate dinner at one of our favorite places, Catfish Hole and then made our way to the stadium.

We had to park about 2 miles away and we knew all week it was suppose to not just rain during the game, but storm. So we were a little worried for our walk back to the car. But it couldn't have turned out more perfect for us. We had seats in the upper section and so we watched not even all of the first quarter up there.

After about an hour it starred pouring and because of lighting they evacuated the stadium. We went down to the bottom and waited out the rain. We had about an hour delay and we we just hung out under the stadium. Well we had heard it was going to be a long time before they were going to play again, and with all this rain still coming we decided just to go. Well we got not even half way to the car and we heard a police officer say they were going back on the felid ink 12 minutes. We knew there was more rain still coming but it looked about an hour or so away and since we paid for the tickets and had nothing else to do we decided we were going to go back and watch the game. We went in the lower level and ended up getting amazing seats since so many people had left.  We were on the lowest level in the end zone right under the balcony so if it started raining we wouldn't get wet! It was perfect!!

We were really excited about our new seats! We ended up being able to watch the rest of the half and Randy Jackson was at the game and came out at half time!! We stayed as long as we could and we looked at the radar one last time and figured we better run to the car. So we got there as fast as we could ha! We made it and just as we were getting in it started pouring! Even though we only saw a half it was a blast and we had such a good time. We didn't even get wet like we thought we were :)

We slept in Sunday, had lunch and just hung out the rest of the day! Later we made the trip back to OK and finally finished up hanging some stuff and working on our house. Natalie came over and helped me decorate. I need all the help i can get and she is SOO good at it! We are going to Hobby Lobby tomorrow and I am having her pick out all my stuff for me to decorate with ha!

We had such a good time in AR, as always. This week Mitch and I only work Monday and Tuesday then off the rest of the week!! I am so ready for this much needed Fall Break! I am hoping to really work on the house and then Friday we are headed to the Thunder game!! We got these tickets back in March and have been looking forward to it since then! Saturday, my mom and I are headed back to AR for the craft fairs with Michelle and her mom. We have been the past several years and LOVE it. They have so many cute things and I am really looking forward to it!

I hope y'all have wonderful week!!!

Our weekend in Bentonville

*I meant to post this last Monday- so it is a week and a day over due (keep that in mind while reading)... sorry, we just got our internet set up today! So that means more blogging to come!! :)

I know.. I have been a horrible blogger lately and you probably do not believe me when I say I promise to get better. These past few months we have just had so much going on its been hard to find time. But good news... We are moved into our house!!!! So I should have more time. Well I say we are moved in... We have everything in, now we are organizing and putting everything away (longest process ever).
Our carpet went in last week and then we cleaned and that was our last step. We would have loved to spend the weekend moving in but we made plans a long time ago to spend the weekend in Bentonville.
We got to Bentonville Friday evening and had BBQ with Mitch's parents,  grandparents and Will and Michelle.
MItch and I got up Saturday and just relaxed and watched the Ryder Cup. Later that morning we took my ring to get cleaned and went to the farmers market!! I miss going there every Saturday! It is one if my favorite things ever!
That afternoon we headed over to my father-in-laws new apple store for the grand opening party! It was a lot of fun to be there and everything turned out so great! We are so happy it went well for him!
After lunch, Michelle and I may have slipped away and went shopping ha! We got some CUTE new razorback stuff! We ended our trip with dinner at one of the best restaurants, MarketPlace!
We had such a good time and we will be back the next few weekend as well!

Now more on our house. Sunday after life group, we started moving everything out of storage into the house and over these past few days, we are slowly putting everything away. Our house looks like a disaster right now with boxes and stuff everywhere, but we finally seem to be making some progress. I finished up moving everything into my kitchen and getting it organized last night. I am trying to just work on one room at a time, but its hard when there is stuff everywhere!! I will post pics when we are officially all settled and organized, which might be a few weeks.
