Past two weeks: Re-cap

Well once again, I have been slacking on blogging. But to my defense, we have been busy here in the Frank household. Here is a re-cap of our last two weeks.

Two weeks ago, we I took off on a Friday, and we headed to AR. It was Mitch's moms birthday and Michelle's birthday, so everyone was in town. Mitch's grandma and also his mom's parents were all there. So it was a lovely weekend fill of lots of family time.

Saturday Mitch and I headed to Fayetteville early that morning. We hung out in Fayetteville until the game and we were so worried it was going to rain. They had forecasted cold and rain all week and boy were they wrong. It was perfect weather!! We actually got a little hot in the middle of the game since we had dressed for cold.  The game itself was awful... we are just in transition with a new coach and a young team this year. So we went into the game knowing we wouldn't win, and overall even though we didn't play well, Mitch and I had a blast. We always have a good time at football games.

We were back in Bentonville by 4:00 that afternoon and Mitch's dad cooked out ribs for about 20 people. It was the perfect evening for everyone to be outside and enjoy some yummy food.

Sunday, we got up went to church and Mitch and I went to The Market Place for lunch. It was nice for us two to get away and enjoy our favorite restaurant. We made it back to his parents house just in time for the Green Bay game. We watched it and just relaxed all afternoon. We headed back to Tulsa later that evening. It was such a fun weekend. Weekend like that make me miss living in AR. I just love going to the Hogs games and I especially love fall in Arkansas!

I only had to work one day that next week. I know seems pointless right? But I am not going to complain having the week off. It was a perfect fall break. Mitch and I did some shopping, relaxed at home and even had a date night or two! Then I left EARLY Friday morning with my mom to head back to AR for craft fairs. We stayed the weekend and had a blast. We found some awesome deals and came home with way too much. I actually bought several clothes items this year and of course my typical food... dips, bread, fudge and kettle corn.

Today I got up for church and then just getting the house clean and watching the Packers play. I am trying some fun new recipes for dinner this week and hopefully I will remember to take pictures and share soon.

We have a busy next few weeks. This weekend is the Tulsa Run and I am excited that Elizabeth and Mitch are both running it with me. I have kinda been slacking on my training over the last few weeks, so it will be interesting.
We also have OBU homecoming here in a few weeks and I am so excited about this! Mitch and I were going to take off work and go down Friday to play in the golf tournament but, we have decided not too. I hate using my personal days this time of year bc we get SO many long breaks in a row. And we are planning our annual Branson Christmas trip and so I figured I would rather take more days off for that over the golf tourn.

I hope y'all have a great week. I am sad fall break is over, but only a few weeks until Thanksgiving break!!

Jog-a-thon, fair and Arkansas bound!

Well tomorrow is Friday and I couldn't be more excited! I have had a crazy week and fall break is so close I can feel it. I think this week has been dragging because I am super excited about out weekend. I am leaving work early and we are Arkansas bound! Also, our school did not have any power, water, air, etc today so it made for some crazy kids (and teachers). We had police and firemen all over campus because our security was down, we had no lights in the bathrooms, and no lights or hot lunches at lunch today. And that my friends, was only a part of the chaos. The worst part was how stinking hot it got in our building. We were all dripping with sweat by the end of the day!  I will spare telling you all about my day, lets just say it was hectic and chaotic. I am praying for power tomorrow.

The good news is I am leaving work early to head to Bentonville. We are celebrating Mitch's moms and Michelle's birthday and also going to the Razorback game! This time of year is my favorite, especially in AR. What is better than cool fall weather and a football game! It just makes me smile thinking about it!

Last week, we had our Jog-A-Thon at school and it was so fun! It went on all day and their was live music and snacks. Whole Foods was our main sponsor so we had an overwhelming amour of yummy food. Each class was allotted an hour of the day and we ran the while time. It was so neat to run with my little kindergarteners! Just our campus at west, raised over $50,000 and every bit of that goes back into our classrooms!! I had the best day, I am just sad I forgot to take pictures.

Also some exciting news regarding running- my school is running the Tulsa Run together!! I was stoked when I got this email. We get an entry discount and for every runner our school gets money! I have signed up for the 15k a few months ago so I had already planned on running it, but all my work friends are doing the 5k. So I  trying to decide what to do. I really want to be with my school, so we'll see.

We also made another trip to the fair. We go every year with Katie, Tommy, Shannon, Drew, Mallory and John. I mean all we really do it walk around and eat- but hey, what's wrong with that?

That about all going on here. I have signed up and starting studying for my second test so I am keeping super busy! Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy this beautiful, cool fall weather!

1 down, 2 to go...

Well I have some exciting news to share. This actually happened last week, but I like to blog about it so I will remember. I took the OGET on August 26th and I found out last Tuesday I offically passed!! This was very exciting news if you new how my day went when I took it. Let me just tell you about it.

So when I went to sign up back in the summer all the dates were taken up until February. I was told to book my test day far out because they book up, but I had not idea that far out! I became very discouraged bc I had been studying and didn't want to wait until February. So I did have a few options... They had a few openings but they were during the week and I really didn't want to have to use  a personal day for a few hours of a test. Or they had one opening on August 26th but it was at 4:30pm so not only would I becoming straight from school, but it was only the 6th day of school and if you are a teacher you know the first few weeks are awful, crazy, bad ... Do I need to go on?  So, I first decided not too bc I know how tired I am at the the end of school, but the more I thought about it, it was really my only option. So I signed up and thought worse comes to worse I just take it over if I don't pass.
So I studied for about a month and then the weekend before the test comes- the test is on a Monday.  And let me remind you, this is the first weekend of school so I was cranky and tired already. So I go to bed Saturday night and wake up in the middle of the night feeling awful! I was in bed sick all day Sunday. I mean I felt so bad! So Monday comes and yep- it's worse. I ended up having an upper respitory infection. I couldn't breathe, my nose was constantly running, my eyes were swollen, I could barley hear I had so much pressure in my ears and I had a never ending headache. Great!

So when I got there, the got me right in and I got started. Now let me remind you, they make you take off everything like watches, ponytail holders, etc. So I get into the room and there is no clock anywhere, not even on the computer. So I had looked how long the test was before and I remembered it could take 4 hours. So when the man signed me in- he said you have two hours. I kinda flipped. Now I know he gives out a lot of tests an they are all different times but really I feel you should get this stuff straight. So I began the test confused on my time.

So I am nearing the end of the test and I edit my essay and my computer goes off. I knew my time was up. Now when your in a test like that you have no concept of time. I was trying to focus so hard while feeling awful I had absolutely no idea how long I had been in there. But because of that mans little comment about you have 2 hours and the fact that my computer went off- my guess was it was around 2 hours later- 6:00pm. So I get all my stuff and leave and right before I walk out the door, the lady stops me and hands me a piece of paper. She says, you'll need this to get out, its the code for the door once you get off the
elevator. I took it and looked a little confused. She said, oh the doors lock after 7:30. Now I don't know if you have ever been so completely off on your time, but it is a weird feeling. In my mind I was thinking my test was 2 hours and I took the whole time, so it was around 6pm. Being very, very confused, I asked her what time it was and she said 8:30! I couldn't believe it. I was so confused because that man told me it was a 2 hour test and since I had no clock and no perception of time while testing I was in shock.

So needless to say I left there feeling pretty bad about the test. I mean it took me he whole time and I was constantly having to ask for tissues and breaks. I for sure thought I was going to have to re-take it.

I had to wait a whole month, and I wasn't nervous until about the day before I received my scores. When I got the email and found out I passed, I freaked out ha! I was just really expecting not to pass so when I saw the good news I was so thankful because I worked hard on it and I was really not wanting to study for that test again. Now I get to move on to the OSAT-Oklahoma Subject Area Test. This is where I determine what grade level I want to teach. I am going to do Early Childhood- so I will be certified to teach pre-k through 3rd grade. And as much as I LOVE teaching kindergarten, I am getting very interested in teaching 1st grade. So I am just praying right now that the rest of my tests go well and whenever I do get certified, the perfect job will be out there for me.

I know this is probably more than you want to hear, but it was a funny experience for me, so I like to document it. Have a great week y'all!!

Weekend fun

Well October is here and can I just say I love this month. The weather gets constantly cool, football is in full swing and the holidays are just around the corner. I couldn't be happier. But before we get too far into October, here is how we spent the last week of September.

Last week was pretty uneventful. We both worked and it was a very busy week at school for me. The busy season is upon us and I am just trying to mentally prepare myself.  Friday night, we had dinner with a couple from our life group and we were suppose to go out downtown to eat, but they just had a baby and their babysitter got sick, so we went to their house. I wasn't at all the least bit upset because that just meant I got to play with baby Cameron all night  :)

Saturday, we had to get up really early. We do a service project once a month with our lifegroup and this saturday we went to the Owasso Retirement Center. We spent all morning there and it ended up being a lot of fun.  We colored with them (which was right up my alley) painted their nails, played games and just visited. They were so sweet and so thankful for someone to talk to. I am really looking forward to going back next month.

Later that afternoon, we went to the fair! Mitch's parents were in town, so we all went and we spent the first hour walking around inside because it was still raining, but then it cleared off and was the perfect afternoon. My brother always plays in a fiddle contest at the fair, so we stayed for that and didn't leave the fair until after 9:30. We were there all day, but we got some delicious fair food and had a great time.

I love mini donuts!!

Sunday always seems to be our relaxing day. We went to church, out to eat and back to the house for a nap and some football. Later that afternoon, we couldn't resist the beautiful weather so we took Bella and went for a long walk down riverside.

I took a personal day yesterday, so it was nice to be able to relax and not have to worry about going into work after our busy weekend. Mitch was suppose to get off as well, but of course they scheduled a renewal class for one of his certifications and they would not let him change it. So I was pretty bummed because we were planning on going to the fair during the day so that many people wouldn't be there. So since he had to work, I had a day all to myself and I actually really enjoyed it. Bella and I got up and went and got Starbucks. I still have so many gift cards left over from my students last year, so it is always a treat when you don't have to pay for it. I enjoyed a pumpkin spice latte and they gave Bella a "puppy latte". It was just a cup filled with whipped cream and oh my goodness- you'd think she had never ate in her life. She went crazy. So now she is a Starbucks dog and will be wanting more of those!

After our morning coffee and walk, I went and got a pedicure and it was so relaxing and such a treat. They even did this cute chevron design on my big toe.

I was wanting to make a trip to bath and body works because have you seen their new candles?? If you know me at all... you'll get why I am excited about this! I will be making a trip there this week!

Later that afternoon, I ran to the store to get stuff for dinner and then came back home and made this candy bark stuff. I will post the recipe, but it is super easy. It is saltine crackers, brown sugar, butter and chocolate chips. It makes so much... I gave some to my parents and sent Mitch with a big bag to take to work... and of course we still have some here that I can munch on.  It is the perfect easy treat to make around the holidays and break off a few pieces and bag up for people at work or neighbors.
I also tried a new Pinterest recipe for dinner and it was a success.  It was a spinach and tomato tortellini pasta. We have also been on this kick of making carrots for a side. If you have not tried the Pioneer Woman's whiskey glazed carrots- you are missing out. They are soooooo gooood!!

So thats about all going on here. We have another busy week planned and I hope to post about it soon!

Have a wonderful first day of October!!!
