Saturdays in the South

In honor of the start of college football.. I thought I would do a post dedicated to FOOTBALL!

Well it's Saturday in the south and that only means one thing... football! I love love love football season. There is just something about crisp air, tailgate snacks and football on the tv. I think it reminds me of my childhood. When I was little, we went to most games, but if we didn't, we were for sure having friends over to watch the game. Now, I grew up a OK State fan.. and yes I still love the pokes, but over the past several years, I have come to cheer for the Razorbacks! Both my parents went to OSU, my mom grew up in Stillwater and my grandparents still live there and work for OSU. So needless to say- we are in Stillwater a lot and I will always been a OSU fan.

When I met my husband, 7 years ago, he told me if we stayed together, I would become and Razorback fan and well, he was right. We were together 3 years before we got engaged and during those three years, he took me to multiple razorback sporting events and I spent most of my time in the summers in AR visiting him and his family. So to say I got a lot of razorback exposure while we were dating would be an understatement. So by then, I liked the Hogs, but it really started when we moved there. I challenge any of y'all to live in NWA and not become a dedicated razorback fan. I am going to say it's close to impossible. The razorback fever is contagious! And then I got a job at the U of A and that was the end... I had become a true razorback fan.. and I love it! Since we didn't go to a big college, this is our team we cheer for on Saturdays!

Now, I will always love the Cowboys. We still go to many games and love watching the pokes, but I do like having another team that both my husband and I love together.

Since football has started.. I have decided it is fall. Now I know it is not fall and we still have a few weeks, but a girl can dream (this weather is not helping though :). So this morning, we went to Starbucks and I got my all time favorite drink-iced pumpkin spice latte.

Even though it it over 100 degrees today, I had my coffee and just had to pretend it was fall. We also went to the farmers market and I got mums for our front porch. Nothing screams fall like bright yellow mums!

Now we are making snacks, grilling out and flipping back and forth between the hogs and cowboys game. Pretty nice saturday if you ask me. Oh, and I finally get to represent my new woo pig sooie tank!

Thoughts for Today

How in the world is it Thursday? This week has flown by, and I can say I am extremely happy about that! My sweet littler kindergarteners are driving me crazy! Ha. Okay, not really... But they are still struggling with this whole pay attention and school thing. I have tried everything, but I am determined to get them to listen. This class is so different from last years. But I do go and see my kids my last year multiple times a day, and honestly that gets me through my day. Mitch keeps telling me to give it time and I will love these kids like I did my last and I'm sure he's right. But my class was incredible and it was my first class. They will always be special to me.

But anyways, because I come home and crash everyday, I have not been able to come up with an enjoyable post for y'all. My brain is fried by the time I get home. So here are some random thoughts for today.

One-
Although I usually don't say this- I am ready for summer to be over. It has been so hot and really I am just ready for fall and all the lovely things it brings!
I am ready for Starbucks fall drinks, hoodies, Halloween, craft fairs, cooler weather and yes... College football!!

Two-
This goes along with number one... I cannot wait for football to be underway! Mitch and I LOVE football and cannot wait to cheer on our teams this weekend! We weren't able to make it to the razorback game, but we will watching both the hogs and cowboys from the comfort of our home. And after the week I've had... That is perfectly fine by me.

Three-
This is a long weekend and that has me crazy excited. We don't have school tomorrow or monday and this will be the first in a long time Mitch and I are both off and have ZERO plans. Yes that's right..  We have no plans. I'm sure we will do stuff here around tulsa, most likely it will include some golf. So if I'm not watching football or golfing- you will most likely find me sleeping.

Four-
Mitch only has ONE more night on the night shift!!!!!!! This may be the highlight of my entire week, or month, or year. We can get back to a normal life! Bella and I both are happy to have him back.

Five:
I spoke to soon on the "not getting sick the first week of school." I woke up Monday feeling like death. I had the worst sore throat and just all those fun cold symptoms. I got some medicine quick and I am finally stating to feel some relief.

Six:
Last but not least, I must confess I have been lazy these past two weeks. I am going to use school as an excuse.. Although, I really am exhausted by the end of the day. I am trying to get out of this slump.. I started my tulsa run training and I hope that will help!

So yes, that's probably nothing y'all really wanted to know, but that goes back to number 5 about being lazy.

Hope y'all have a great, long holiday weekend!!

August!

This is going to be a random post, but here's what we've been up too in the month of August.

Well school is in full session and I am 100% exhausted! I knew starting on a Monday was going to be ruff, but having a class that's... I'm just going to say it... CRAZY! It has been a hard week. But I do have a positive, Im not sick the first week of school this year! Last year it was a nightmare! So I will take crazy and hectic over sick any day!

First day of school

The first week of kindergarten is always ruff, but I have a class that.. Oh my goodness.. They are going to test my patience. We have been in school 5 days and they just don't get it ha! But, I can still say I love what I do and I couldn't be happier that we are back! I love my school and I work with some of the nicest people!

Completely different topic, I subscribed Bella to a her Bark Box and the first one arrived in the mail this week! It is a monthly box with new toys, treats, food, etc and we love it! She was super excited!
She is only a little spoiled :)

Last weekend we had a surprise engagement party for my best friend, Natalie! Her and Dustin got engaged last week and her mom and I thought it would be fun to throw her a little party! Now- let the planning begin!

I got her cake from Merritts and I thought it turned out great!

This weekend has consisted of lots of rest! Mitch worked all weekend, but it's  his last weekend on nights!!!!
I hung at home, slept a lot and played with Bella. Saturday night Bella had a play date with her friend, Oreo! Oreo is a Party Poodle breed and he walks by my parents house every night so we see him a lot. We decided they should play so he came over and they just had a blast!

This is a four day week- and I couldn't be happier. And actually next week is a four day week as well, so I have off this Friday and next Monday!

Hope y'all have a great weekend! Next weekend starts college football! Which also means fall is right around the corner! And speaking of football- look what beauties came in the mail this week!

First Day of School!

Well here it is! My first day outfit is laid out. My lunch is packed. And I am ready to tackle 50 sweet kindergarteners! Okay, we'll maybe not sweet, but a teacher can dream! I had a great week getting the classroom ready and I always love meet the teachers nights! I was able to meet my kids and families. It is always a little blurry at meet the teacher, but from what I saw, it is going to be a challenging year. I hope I'm wrong, but I have a feeling I'm not. I just keep praying and telling myself, those kids were placed with me for a reason and even if it has nothing to do with teaching, they need me. I had 2 challenging students last year and it was only prayer that got me through. I get one of those kids back again for a second time. I came home more than once last hear in tears. Not just because if his home life, but because I felt so helpless. He wrote me a note at the end of last year and all those bad and rough memories went away forever! I try to look past their "behavior issues" and just love on them. Most of the time that is all they need. So needless to say, please keep me in your prayers, specifically that I will know what these kids need.

On a diffident note, I could not be more excited for the first day. I am slightly going crazy that we start on a Monday this year. It's going to be a LONG week! Mitch took me to get a couples massage on Saturday morningand it could not have come on a better day! I was so worn out from getting the room ready and was up at the school late every night. I was refreshed and I felt like I could conquer the world when I left ha!

I know I have abandon the blog lately, but when I got in school mode I lost track of time and how long it had been since I actually got on the computer. I am going to really try to blog about my my first week but I can't make any promises!

I hope y'all have a great week!!

Random updates

We are back from Colorado and we had the best time. Mitch's roommate from college has a cabin in Del Norte, which is in the middle of no where!! But it is about 1 hour from Pagosa Springs, so that was neat! The cabin was tucked back in the mountains right on the Rio Grande and it was absolutely gorgeous! When you went out on the deck, it felt like you were looking at something from a magazine. It was all by itself and you had zero cell service and was so nice for a week getaway! We hiked a lot, played some golf and rented four-wheelers for a day to climb a 13er. That was one of the coolest things I have ever done!

Now we are back to reality... all of our vacations are over and I start back to school next week! I have had the best summer ever and even though at some points it was tiring and stressful, I wouldn't of had it any other way. We got to do some things we will probably never get to do again and I loved that we had this opportunity!

We have been home since Monday and it has been so nice not to have to pack for something. I think this is the first time I can say I don't want to go anywhere.. I was so glad to get home and just know we are here for a while. I am ready for my routine and to get back in the swing of things. I just love Tulsa and I am glad we will be here for awhile. I have always enjoyed Tulsa, but living here as an adult, it has captured my heart. I can honestly say I don't want to leave. Mitch and I both love it here.. I think we finally feel home and it is the best feeling!

A lot of y'all have been asking about his school and we don't really have that much of an update, except we have decided to look into programs where we can stay in Tulsa. This was a big shock, and still is, to both of us. Ever since college, I thought it would be fun to go off and live somewhere "different" for a while. And while I still think we would like it, I honestly think we would be happier here in Tulsa. When we were talking about it and it just surprised me how both of our attitudes have changed. I mean, we have family here, a house we really don't want to leave, I have my dream job, a church family we have grown to love and when it comes down to it- we really love Tulsa. So, we are still waiting to hear back from Union University in Jackson, TN and if thats where we end up, I am sure we will both enjoy our time there. But Mitch has also decided to apply to a school in Wichita where we would spend the 1st semester (aug-dec) in Wichita and then his clinical/fellowship/residency would be here in Tulsa. So we are trying to figure out how all this would work out, but right now we are leaning towards that idea.   When we think about our future, this option makes most sense but, ultimately, God has a plan for us, which is so reassuring to know we are in His hands.

Also, a little bit of exciting news.. okay VERY exciting news for us! There is a chance Mitch will start day shift in 3 weeks!!!!!! I know y'all who have never experienced it, probably don't think it's that big of deal- but let me tell you this year has been one of the hardest, just because of night shift. It hasn't been bad, just really hard! We didn't think it was even an option, we figured he would be on nights until school, but his supervisor called yesterday and said there is a spot opening up and Mitch was next in line! We find out for sure in about a week or so, but we are praying it works out! It's nice to see a light at the end of the tunnel! Thank y'all who have been praying for us during this time and helping me though it! I really appreciate it!

On a different note, I mentioned earlier I start back to school next week!!! I am on the countdown and seriously cannot wait! I will admit, I am a little afraid I will not have a class like I did last year. I think of them all the time and cannot wait to see them. I ran into one of my kids at the grocery store the other day and it just made my heart melt. It made me so excited to get back to school! To this day, it still blows my mind how much I love this job. I thank God everyday He is giving me this opportunity. As much as I love it, these first few weeks suck the life out of you ha! I remember last year coming home at 3:30 and going to bed for the night. I cannot describe to you the amount of exhaustion I am getting ready to experience. Next week I will be working in the classroom and having to stay up at the school late for back to school nights and meet the teacher, and then on the 19th the kiddos come! Please pray for a great school year!

Oh.. I about forgot! The weekend before we left for CO, we were able to celebrate our good friends wedding! Congrats Shannon and Drew! The wedding was a blast and it is always so wonderful to celebrate marriage!

my handsome date
old roomies

Thats about all going on here! I am taking these next few days to do nothing before the craziness starts! Have a great week!
