Tulsa Tough, sick days and THUNDER!

I'm back! Sorry I have been MIA for a week... between the long weekend and being sick, I haven't found much time to blog! So here is an update on what we've been up to!

Last Thursday I got off work around 2:30 and was so ready to start my long weekend! I got Friday and Monday off and ended up taking Tuesday as well, so I haven't been at work since last Thursday! It seemed like a long 5 days, but it was much needed.

This sums up our Thursday afternoon/night. We hung out at home and packed for this weekend. Mitch was going on a guys trip from some friends from school to St. Louis and I decided to spend the weekend in Tulsa. I had comtemplated staying at home, but I knew I had a long weekend and about after 1 day of being my my self I tend to get really bored! Also, Will and Michelle were going to be in Tulsa for Tulsa Tough (bike race), so I figured why not spend some time with my family and go cheer on Will in his race.  I knew I would regret staying at home for 4 days.

So Friday, we left early and met my parents for lunch at Nelsons. I had never heard of it before and oh my goodness it was delicious! My brother was asked to play there for a hour, so we got lunch out of it! I was kinda nervous becasue I had never heard of this place before, but it turned out to be amazing! It is all down home cookin' (which is my favorite meal) and I ate way too much. Mitch and I both had chicken fried steak, gravy, mashed potatoes green beans and okra. I should have taken a picture.. lets just say they are VERY generous with their portion sizes. Mitch and I could have easly split one.

After lunch, we headed over to see Peter and Scott. Mitch wasn't suppose to leave for St. Louis unitl about 6 that night, and I had plans to hang out with Natalie that evening. So we hung out with them in the mean time. Its always nice to catch up with them.

Later that evening I went with Natalie to a Harley and Maudes Jewlery Party. I blogged about this last week and it was amazing! They dont have a store, but go around and do parties all over OK. It is the cutest jewlery and you can get anything custom made. I ended up getting a custom made razorback necklace and I cannot wait for it to come in. I also got a cross that says southern charm. I got them all in a red/white color them so I an switch them out without having to buy all different color of beads to go with them. They said it would be about 4-5 weeks. I will post pics when they come in!!

After the party, we went and had dinner and then I headed downtown to meet up with Will and Michelle for Tulsa Tough. It was the perfect night to be outside and Michelle and I had fun cheering on Will.

As if Tulsa Tough isn't a big enough event that brings in TONS of people to Tulsa. The Jersey Boys was at the PAC, a Barry Mantelow concert, and a Drillers game was all going on downtown. Lets just say it was crazy! My parents were at Jersey Boys and they said it was awful trying to find parking.

Here are all the guys getting ready to start Friday night. It is crazy to watch, I don't understand how they do it!

After the race, we decided to go to Hideaway for late dinner. I think it was about 11pm but we were all starving. After we ate I drove back home and was finally in bed for the night! It was the best feeling to get in bed and not have to set an alarm for the next morning!

Saturday, my mom and I literally spent all day shopping. We left around 10 and got back around 4:30.  I was exhasued, I can't shop like I use to be able to anymore. I didn't buy much, but I did get Bella a new cute pink bandana!

And we did make a trip to my favorite store...

We were in this little store for over an hour and I could have spent longer. If you havent gone in, next time your in Tulsa go! Its so worth it. Mitch got me a necklace for my birthday and it has my initials and our wedding date on it. I love it and it is a very simple piece of jewlery. I love that you can wear it with anything.

That night, my parents and I headed back downtown to watch day 2 of Tulsa Tough. Saturday was a little hotter than Friday. I was about to die.

We did get some good pictures though! It is always a fun atmosphere in downtown Tulsa. I loved how you can see the Cain's sign and the buildings in the background!
After the race, we had planned on going out to dinner, but we were all so hot and tired, we ordered in chinese and went home. My allergies really started acting up on Saturday, so I took some medicine and was in bed that night about 10. I have always had BAD allergies. I have just learned to live with them, but this weekend was horrible. I couldn't breathe and it was just bad. I had never experienced anything like that before.

So Sunday, we slept in and about 10am and my parents and I went to look at some houses. There is this neighborhood we are in love with and there are multiple houses for sale in it, so we drove around and then at 2 we had an appt to look at a couple fo them. I love getting to look for houses, but it is always a stressful process and so much to think about before you buy!

Later that afternoon, you'll never guess what we did... yes we went back out to Tulsa Tough. It is a three day race and day three is on riverside and is always the most fun to watch. We took Bella out with us and she loved getting to be outside all day and watch the racers!

Mitch got in later that night and I went to pick him up and then we headed back home to Bentonville. It was a nice weekend and I reallY enjoyed getting to spend so much time with family and friends!
We didn't get home until about 10:45 and we both went right to bed. Mitch was suppose to work but got called off, so we cleaned the house and did some packing. We are trying to start this process early, so when we do move it is not so stressfull. We cleaned out all the closets and packed up our winter clothes. My car is packed full and we are going to take it to Tulsa this weekend. Other than packing, I slept most of the day. If you know me this is very unusaul for me. I felt horrible. I felt like my allergies had taken over my whole body and I literally could not do anything to feel better execpt sleep. I took off Tuesday too, becasue I didn't sleep at all Monday night. I could have probably gone to work, but I would have been miserable and I have about 2 weeks of sick says built up, so I figured I should start using them.

Mitch worked yesterday and I slept a lot again and tried to do some cleaning. The relator was coming to take pics of the house, so I cleaned and then had to leave for about an hour while she was here. When I pulled up in the driveway I saw this and about started to cry..

I cannot tell you how excited I am to be moving to Tulsa, but it is still really hard to leave. It seems I am always sad while I am here in Bentonville, but then when I get to Tulsa and see how happy I am and how much fun we have with all our friends, I cannot wait to be there. I just have to remember this is what's best for us right now and even though it is going to be hard to leave this house we started out in, there are so many new adventures to come!

I also had to go to the doctor and figure what was going on with my allergies. He didn't really know what was going on either, but just said I was extreamly congested and put be on multiple perscriptions, he said with how bad I am not just one is going to work. This is what I came home with...

I hate being on medicine, and I am just hoping this helps me! I am feeling a little better today, but my eyes are still swollen and itchy. With my past eye issues, it's no surprise all the problems I am having right now. I am about 99.9% sure I have an infection in my right eye.... so I get to go to the eye doctor tomorrow. Lucky me!

Last night, we grilled out steaks and veggies and watched the THUNDER!! Mitch has always been a huge Thunder fan and he goes crazy, literally crazy, during the games! He has been to multiple games and loves them. My parents actually got him tickets to the game in Tulsa this fall and we are super excited!! They also got him this shirt and I love it. It is a vintage style thunder shirt and I want one so bad! I went to buy one this weekend and they were out, so my mom is going back this week to try and get me one. They are so cute and super soft!

He HAS to wear his jersey during every game! I think he even may have slept in it last night. Ha!

Bella and I ready to THUNDER UP!!

That's all thats going on here. I hope I didn't bore you to death, I know that wasn't a very exciting post! Hope y'all had a great weekend and are enjoying the week!!

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

I am linking up with This Kind of Love for What I'm Loving Wednesday!

So here's what I'm loving on the beautiful Wednesday!

I'm loving I get Friday off and next monday off! My husband has plans to go on a guys trip to St. Loius, so I am going to have a much needed LONG girls weekend in Tulsa!

I'm loving Harley and Maudes Jewlery! My best friend Natalie has introduced me to it and I am completely hooked. I have been online looking at their jewlery all day. We are going to go to a H&M party this friday night in Tulsa. I have already planned my next couple purchases for this weekend and I think I finally have it narrowed down to two! I also think I might have them customize me an Arkansas Razorback one :)

I love the Southern Charm cross, but in RED!
I'm loving this weather! I love summertime and it has literally felt like summertime for the past couple months! There's nothing better than HOT weather! I mean whats not to love?? Laying by the pool, golf, sno cones, fourth of July, BBQ with friends, and vacations!

I'm loving that it's National Running Day! Most of you know my passion for running and I am excited for my run this evening! I am also excited that Sunday I ran 7 miles! I have ben scared to run more than 5 due to injury and just "not being able to make it", but I did it and it was perfect! My body felt great. I think since I have been training mid-day in the heat 4-5 miles was really tough in 90 degree weather, but my 7 miles I ran about 7:30pm so it was only about 80 degrees and my body was easliy prepared for that. I cant wait to get out and do it again tonight!!

I'm loving my sweet dog Bella! I honestly cant remember what my life was like without her. She has the biggest personality and makes our life so fun!

I'm loving all things neon! I love love love all the bright colors this summer and especially this nail polish. It is China Glaze and is called Flip Flop Fantasy. I got it on at the nail salon about a 2 weeks ago and had to go on a hunt to buy it.

And last I'm loving one piece bathing suits! That is something I thought I would never say, but they have been growing on me lately. My mom had the cutest leopard/black one last summer and ever since I have been looking for one. I love my bikinis, but this will be something fun and different!

Link up and let us know what your loving!

Simple recipe and overdue cake!

Hello! I hope y'all are having a great week so far! Its half over :) I get Friday off since it is so slow around here in the summer. I love working here, but summers are crazy slow. I love to be busy and having to sit and read/play on the internet all day is starting to get to me.. ha! I enjoyed it at first becasue the end of the semester was so busy, it was nice to have things slow down, but now I am about to go crazy! I can't compain though.. I do like getting an extra day of the week off! Also, orientation for the incoming freshman starts this week, so things are slowly picking up.

I thought I would share a quick and easy recipe with y'all. I love when I find simple recipes. Don't get me wrong, I love to cook, and honestly nothing makes me more happy than being in the kitchen hours upon hours cooking, but there are those days that we have things to do in the evening or just need a quick meal. I have always felt like a quick, easy meal means not very good or not fresh. I have been proven wrong. I have found so many good quick meals and this specific one I found on Pinterest. I seem to be making meals from Pinterest a lot and I have enjoyed almost all of them.

Yesterday, I knew we didnt have much at home and we didnt want to make a big walmart trip since we are leaving tomorrow for Tulsa. So I browsed through my pinned recipes and came accross one that called for 4 ingredients and they were all things I had around the house already. It was brown sugar garlic chicken, which sounded delicious! It looked super easy, so I thought I would give it a try!

It called for chicken, garlic, brown sugar and oil- shocker, I know! I actually added chopped onions to mine. I was reading some comments about it and someone said they added onions and well I believe onions make everything a little better :)

All you do it chop up the onions and garlic..

On meduim heat, put about 3 tablespoons of oil in a pan and let it warm up. Add the onions and garlic and let them sautee for a few minutes. Depends on how cooked you like them, on long you leave them in the pan.

Once you get them to where you like them, remove from heat and add in 3-4 tablespoons of brown sugar. Stir and make sure all the brown sugar is melted. Place 3-4 (we only used 3) chicken breasts in a small casserole dish and pour the mixtire over it. Heat oven to 500 degreess and bake for 15-30 minutes (we did ours for the full 30 minutes). Remove from oven, let cool and enjoy a delicious, simple dinner! I of course forgot to take pictures of the finished product, but it looked and tasted wonderful! So if you need a quick easy meal that take about 10 minutes to prepare, but taste like it took a lot longer- give this one a try.

After dinner we took Bella on a walk and came back and did something we have been meaning to do for the past year!!! We ate our wedding cake ha! I was super excited and could not wait to cut into it.

Yes, I know we are a year overdue but it is never to late to enjoy some cake! The place we got our cake does things a litte different. If you go back in on your 1 year anniversay (or for us, your 2 year anniversay ha) they give you a topper that matches your cake from your wedding. I know it is a tradition to save the top, freeze it and eat it on your one year anniversary, but we thought this was really neat too!

I mean, most people say it taste just the same and so why not just get a new one! They don't make you do this, but it actually worked out better for us and who doesnt want fresh new cake to enjoy? By doing this we were actually able to take our topper with us when we left our reception and we ate it for dessert that night after our wedding and an early (4:30am) breakfast before we left for the airport! So we thought that was a pretty cool idea.

We have been putting it off and everytime we go to Tulsa we are either just too busy or forgot about picking it up. So this weekend since we were getting a cake from there anyways, we picked it up and ate it last night!

Mitch had been asking all evening when we were going to eat it. Ha! I think he would have rather just skipped dinner and went striaght for the cake. I do have to admit, it is pretty good cake and I didn't blame him. This cake is so rich and since they make it very tall and thick an extra small piece goes a long ways, so needless to say we are going to have cake for the next couple of weeks :)

Have a wonderful Wednesday!!!
