Happy (late) Valentines Day!! This year was a little different for us, but just as special! Mitch had to work Thursday so he slept all day then went into work that night. I did surprise him and take him to Dairy Queen before work ha. I know what your thinking.. DQ? Well if y'all know Mitch at all this may be his favorite place in the world ha! I thought since we couldn't do anything big because he had to go into work at 6, we would go have blizzards! And I will admit it was good :)
This was our 8th Valentines to celebrate together our third married! We have a tradition where Mitch always picks the restaurant for dinner and whatever else we end up doing. I love being surprised. Since that wasn't possible, he did surprise me and about a month ago he booked a hotel in KC for the weekend!! He knows I lOVE KC and that was the perfect gift!
We left Friday when I got out of school and went to AR. We had dinner with Mitch's family and then just hung out for the rest of the night. It was so nice to be back in Bentonville. It feels just the same as when we lived there... I just love that place :)
Saturday we got up super early and made our way to Kansas City. We got there around 10 and we had a great time. We didn't really have plans which was different for us, but nice. When we usually go on trips we have plans of what we want to do and what we want to see but not this trip. It was actually really fun! We just drove around and when we found something we wanted to do we did it. We spend Saturday going to places like the World Market, Zona Rosa, museums, etc. But my favorite was we had an early dinner at my all time favorite restaurant.. Strouds! It is just down home cookin and they are known for their fried chicken.
We wanted to have an early dinner.. 1 because it gets packed fast. Last time we were there we waited about 2 hours. And 2, we hate eating a big meal late and then just feeling blah the rest of the night. This way we were done by 5 and went and walked around the mall again. I also got my new Patagonia jacket. I have been looking at these for a while and I finally got it! It is the best jacket ever!
Sunday we slept in and just did more shopping at Legends and the Plaza and more museums. For dinner Mitch told me he was going to take me to Fugo de Chao and it is just like a Texas de Brazil.
Yes, I spent about an hour in the crayon store. I am def a kindergarten teacher :)
Same tree thats at Crystal Bridges
It was amazing and we ate way too much! We got done with dinner at 7 and were trying to decide of we wanted to stay the night or just drive back. We decided since we were going to drive back in the morning anyways, it would kind of be a waste of a hotel. So we drove back that Sunday night.
We got up Monday and just hung out in Bentonville. I got my ring cleaned and we went and saw the new crystal bridges Hotel. It was... Interesting ha! I mean it was really cool, just very different... But what can you expect ha! We are wanting to stay there for a night this summer just to get the experience.
This was Mitch's favorite part :)
Have a great weekend!!
