Tulsa Trip!

Yes I know its been a while and yes I know I said check back soon for some exciting news and well that exciting news is exactly why I have slacked on blogging. But first, before I share, let me tell you a little about what we've been up too. So in my last post I had said we weren't going to be able to make the trip back to oklahoma because of all the snow. Well about 1:00 that day the sun came out and the roads we already starting to melt and Mitch knew how badly I wanted to go home, so we decided to try it. And it was a success! It was the quickest trip ever, but my mom had all our family come in to visit since we don't get to see them much and so we were able to soak up a lot of family time. It was great! My mom also threw us a little "early" birthday party- for both Mitch and I- since we wont be home again until summer. It was so good to be back and here are a few pics from our trip.

Even though it was a far trip and very quick, it was so worth it to see some family we don't get to see often. We got back to Tennessee Monday and this is where I get to share my exciting news! I had to be back for my new job!! Well okay, its really not as exciting or probably what you're thinking so let me explain. I have been subbing a lot and love it. BUT for some reason I keep getting called back to sub in the 2yr and 3yr olds. I have only done the ages I want a few times. Now don't get me wrong I have come to love these little kids, but struggled with why its not kindergarten or 1st like I wanted. I am already upset with the fact I can't teach, but now even in my subbing its not going how I wanted. But looking back, God has placed me where I needed to be and I am starting to see it now. So since I have been subbing in the same room so much, I have gotten to know the other teacher in the room very well. I have told her all about how we are from OK and its been really hard moving here and not being able to teach. She is the NICEST lady ever and has been so helpful with my transition. Well about 2 months ago I was telling her how subbing is slowing down and obviously will really slow down come May and I am starting to go crazy being at home. I never thought I would say that, but I guess just in a town thats new and not knowing a lot of people, I don't have much to do. I was telling her Mitch is studying ALL the time and thats only going to pick up this summer. So I had decided a few months ago that it would probably be in my best interest to get a small part time job. I didn't want anything big.. number 1 because I still want to sub, and number 2 I honestly just need something fun to get me out of the house a few days a week. Now I decided this a while back, but have been very hesitant to act on it. I knew once I started looking and found something, even something I could sub with, my subbing days were going to be limited and I just wasn't ready to give that up. So needless to say I have been slow on this process. But I do have to mention Mitch has been the most patient husband with me. He knows my love for teaching and told me to take my time. But like I said I needed something to get me out, I was starting to go crazy. Well I told Jennifer, the lady I have been subbing with, thats this is something I'm thinking about doing. And to my surprise, she is opening, actually just opened, up the cutest little cupcake shop right down the road from my house. She offered for me to work a few days a week and still be able to sub when I want. It was PERFECT for me and especially since she knows we like to go home when we can and that subbing is very important to me. So my lack of blogging is due to working. I started March 7 and seriously love it. It is so low stress and just a fun job. I felt really weird taking it because I do have a degree and now a teaching license, but Mitch made a good point, since I can't use those take this three years to do something relaxing and fun. He keeps telling me I have my whole life to work and teach. So needles so say its going well and I am loving getting out of the house a few days a week and I have met so many fun girls through it. It was definitely a humbling experience because I feel like I should be doing "something better" but this is perfect for Mitch and I right now and our situation. I have to remind myself of that daily.

But thats what we've been up too and now we are off to Florida for a week! I'll do a post about our time in Destin when we get back!!!
